Z8 or Optimum Spray Wax (OCW)

So for my "quickie" details I have been washing and spritzing a coat of z8 while i wait for my order of optimum spray wax (OCW) to arrive.

how does z8 hold up compared to optimum spray wax.

I'm told optimum spray wax (ocw) lasts 6 weeks, 5 months ? which is it really ?

how long does z8 last ?

I don't want to mislead any customers which is why i'm asking..

I read a post on the other DC where several Z users stated that Z8 only lasted them about 2 weeks. This seemed puzzling to me as I thought Z8 was more of a spray based Z sealant. Considering its price, 2 weeks of durability is more in the range of an "enhanced" qd than a spray sealant IMO.

I would also like to know if any Z users have tried to test the durability of Z8 over a cleanly prepped surface with no Z2/Z5 under it.

another point I'm bringing this up..

in my neck of the woods,

z8 is $29.95 plus taxes

OCW is $19.95

the choice seems clearer and clearer

A gallon of OCW runs around $35, making it an even better bargain. Z8 is a really good product but using it over Acrylic Jett makes it hard to determine how durable it is. If you are using it for weekly wash customers, I am sure it lasts. Both Z8 and OCW seem to have a cumulative effect on the appearance but given that both look really good, OCW is a much better deal overall.

Depending on your location, weather, etc., OCW should be fine for 6-12 weeks.

Simon - I pretty much use only OCW on my car. It's hard to tell how the durabilty is since I use it ~once a month or so, but I got close to 3 months on both my fathers and sisters car with it. Now sure on Z8, I haven't used it.

I've read at the club that users are averaging about 2 weeks out of Z8 as a standalone product. Personally I'd use with either OCW or Duragloss AW over most products

I tried OCW and really liked it. I only had a sample. Very durable for a spay wax. I am guessing I could get 2+ months on a car that lives outside 24/7 with a wash every other week.

When I used the Z8 it was really hard to not get streaks. This stuff dries real fast. Am I useing it wrong? Thanks

Also... is it safe to put OCW over a carnauba like P21S/s100? Or should it just go right on after my Klasse SG.

Honestly, unless the carnauba is already cured (24 hours since application), I like to use OCW as a base for carnaubas. Once the carnauba is cured though, OCW is a great way to maintain the look and slickness.
