Z-5 or 3M Swirl remover?

I'm thinking of trying Zaino. Do I need to use the Z-5 or will other swirl removers work too? I already have 3m's Swirl Remover. Wondering if that'll work instead of Z-5.

Honestly, the Z5 isn't meant to remove anything and only fills VERY slight swirls. I would use something like the 3M and not really worry about Z5. The new Z2 Pro does almost everything that Z5 does.

I heard the 3M was hard to remove. Is this true?

It's really hard to remove if you just let it sit like a wax. You have to keep rubbing until the stuff breaks down. That isn't exactly fun either. That's why I got a PC. :D

So I can just get the Z-2 Pro and ZFX? Also, after claying, can I just use Zymol or Gold Class car wash instead of Z-7?

Yes to both. You also might want to get some Klasse AIO to use as a base for Zaino. Worked real well for me and others also swear by it.

Clay, polish out the swirls with 3M, Meguiars or Menzerna, AIO, then Z2.

Klasse AIO, that's an all-in-one polymer sealant, right? Can I put Blackfire one top of AIO also? Just curious because I have Blackfire now.:)

If you are referring to 3M SMR then that stuff is junk for REMOVING swirls. Unless you want to primarily fill your swirls, go with their Machine Glaze, its 10 times better.

With the 3M line go with 05933 for heavier swirls and scratches and 05937 for lighter swirls and marring that the aforementioned compound leaves on dark colors.

Zaino is not a polish. I kind of wish Sal which change the naming of that.

3M polishes are okay but the dust generated can be harmful is inhaled. Personally, I'd recommend using Meguiars/Poorboys/Clearcote/1Z etc over 3M. There are a tonne posts here describing each of the products. Just do a search and you'll find a wealth of information.

If you prefer to stay with 3M... look for the Perfect III line. It's a newer generation product that works pretty well.

Stay for Finesse It 2 or the Swirl Marker Remover as the P3 line is much better and easier to work with.

Are you talking about their Finesse-It II Machine Polish? I have a bottle of that too. I also have a bottle of Imperial Hand Glaze, but that definitely just fills in swirls.

The one I have comes in a cylinder container, and I paid $30 for 32 oz. Its "Perfect It III Machine Polish". I wrote a review for it a while back here on Autopia. I also reviewed 3M's Fine Cut Rubbing Compound.

The Finess-It and Perfect-It are two different lines with similar-sounding products in each. I greatly prefer the Perfect-It III line. As far as I know the PI-III line doesn't make harmful dust (but the PI-II line does).

What about Meguiar's #20? Would it work as well as AIO? Aren't they about the same?

I'll second that about the PI II line, but its great stuff.

I need to wipe every next panel when I use the FCRC cause it dusts so much (also wanted to get my 500th post here) - I'm such a....nevermind.
