This has been brought up so many times on so many Detailing web sites and other forums, along with about 4 Facebook pages I belong to......
Whats your feelings or opinion of someone else using your detailing pictures for their web site or Facebook Business Page?
This has happened to me personally several times, without asking my permission to use the pictures....
My personal feelings are....if you didn't do the detail don't mislead your customers or potential customers to think you did the work, I think its tacky and quite frankly put....its stealing...
Even after contacting the person he still does not get it and refuses to remove the pics....Stating that he is not stealing pics or my customers....My rant for the day !!

If you took the photo, you own the photo. If the other party didn't ask for permission it is stealing.

Have you tried adding a watermark to your photos? Doing so might make stealing them less appealing. Just a though.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do. This kind of thing is out of control on anything weight loss and people steal others before/after photos to promote the next big scam. Have yet to hear of someone being successful getting their pictures removed. Just start putting a watermark on the images from now on

IMO it is stealing and dishonest.

I would highly suggest watermarking new and old photos. It is the best deterrent that I know of at this time.

The big issue with the internet is that if someone can “google it” and find it they can save it and use it as their own. If they have no conscience and are only out for quick / easy money with no effort; I am not sure what you can do unless you can prove that they are your pics (Watermark). But I do believe that “Karma / Fate” will catch up to them sooner or later when they can’t duplicate / backup the work they show.

In my book it is dishonest and Stealing and I would send a note to anyone I caught that they need to take it down, pay me X $ or I will plan on pursuing legal action. It just bluff because the damages are little.

A water mark can help, but an experience photo shopper can remove them n a little time.

Consider it a compliment and I would write on every facebook page that this is my work, not theirs, call me for your business. Then they will stop.

By the way this is going to be my new avatar. It s car I just detailed all by myself......................

Sometimes you just gotta laugh it off.

The last time it happened to me, I posted the original pic, along with the rest of the pics from the detail in a comment on their fb page. One was a reflection selfie. Funny thing was not only did he remove the pic, he removed the entire page. I now water mark every pic I post, and haven't had issues since.

Wendell Jarvis -

Sorry this had to happen to you...
I am also amazed that when confronted, the idiot denied he was stealing...
An amazing number of people who grow/grew up with no one responsible enough to teach them right and wrong and the reactions that come back from doing wrong..

Go on his website and if he has a comments page, load it up with comments.. Not accusatory, just stating that all the pictures are your work and your property..

Yeah, I know, he will lie his way out of being questioned about this perhaps, but you have done your due diligence..

I think there are Internet Attorneys out there... I will ask my daughter, the Attorney and see what she knows about this..

This is so typical of what the world is turning into anymore - many do not want to take the time to EARN a place - their place - in the Workplace, instead they want to just start at the TOP, and lie all the way to get there...
And, be in DENIAL about their sad behavior...

Eventually these blokes burn out anyway... You just cant really get good at this profession without a lot of seriously hard, repetitive, getting exposed to all kinds of nasty stuff inside some cars work, work, and then more work...

For those that fall for the quick rotary-swirl-and-fill-look and believe that is really Detailing, they will have their own group of people that will always just be satisfied for that level...

Thank goodness, that there is plenty of room to still grow a good, solid, honest, successful Detailing Business, wherever you are !!!

At the end of the day, I promise you, Wendell Jarvis, that word of mouth, referrals, etc., will Always, be so much better for your business than all the Internets in the worlds without number out there... :)

We here will Always be your biggest fans and will not ever hesitate to refer you to anyone !

Wendell I feel your pain. I had the same thing happen to me after some guy used all of my pics from my Click and Brags posts for his detailing website. Nothing more frustrating then to see your work exploited by someone else.
