Your actual MPG

My 05 Civic EX typically gets between 37 and 40 mpg. I think the sticker said it was rated at 38 on the HWY.

I drive 150 to 160 miles daily, about 2/3 state routes (avg 50 mph) and 1/3 interstate (avg 75 mph).

Just filled up today...

120.2 miles on 3.70 gal = 32.49 mpg. That's driving back and forth to school and screwing around on the country roads that are kind of on the way home :)

I'm thrilled and skeptical at the same time tonight. I filled up in Manitowoc as I left my parents' house. Then I filled up right when I got home. It's 107.6 miles, nearly 100% hwy. Average speed was 60-65mph.

I filled up with 2.43 gallons. That's 107.6 / 2.43 = 44.28! I'm thinking that the first pump overfilled the tank, and/or the second pump underfilled it. If I really did get over 40mpg, that's awesome!

Things that may have influenced this trip:

I bumped the tire pressure to 38psi all around. The tires have a max rating of 51psi. I also changed the oil before I left, and cleaned the air filter. I don't think any of these would have a substantial effect on gas mileage though. Tire pressure can, but the tires were already at 35psi, so they didn't get raised that much.

I'll definitely be interested to see what kind of mileage I get when I go back there in two weeks.

2003 Benz C230SportSedan

According to the trip computer: Last 12k miles averaged 29.7mpg

On the highway, in moderate, fast moving traffic, I can get 35-36mpg.

On the highway, alone, moving same speed, I get about 32-33mpg.

u'd be surprised the improvement a clean air filter can give. getting more air in deffintly helps things out and a high flow filter like a fram or whatever could significantly increase the mpg on a car like yours. the K&N i just put in my POS that gets about 15-19 mpg doesnt make a big difference mpg wise but it deff could in yours. cleaning yours alone mite not be a substantial effect but it will atleast get it back up to factory performance.

Well I expected that if indeed the pump underfilled the tank when I refilled, the next fillup would show worse-than-average mpg. That wasn't the case. I filled up today, and took 4.10 gallons for 144.0 miles = 35.12mpg. That was the same route back and forth to school, >10 miles each way. Lots of short trips to the store, kayak launch site, take-out site, etc...

Maybe I really did get 44mpg!?!?!

I love this car :)

30.40mpg. Back and forth to school and fishing spots. Lots of umm...*spirited* driving :nervous:

I'm going to try to take it easy on this tank. That winding road along my trip is so tempting!

On the way home from school on Labor day weekend I got 40mpg over 200 miles. Not bad for a 2.2 L 5spd stick cavalier

Ecotec? My friend's best with her 5 speed ecotec was 42mpg.

Nope, regular 2.2 L. It was like 198 miles from School to home and I think I used like 5.0something gallons of gas. It was all highway though, and I only went through 2 towns that had stop lights....

My last tank with the boost contoller turned all the way off and sitting in the right lane at 70 netted me 38mpg with my 2.0t (98' Saab 900se). With the boost on, I hit 19mpg a few tanks back (included an autox and a trip to the dragstrip)...
