If the temp was above freezing I would have washed, waxed and cleaned the inside to get rid the odor in the Neon rental I had for Christmas.

My wife said I am getting way too much into detailing when i dropped my car for servicing for a couple of days and the VW dealer gave me a ' 02 Jetta for a loaner. The dark blue looked real crappy since no one appeared to have cleaned it since it was made. I could not stand driving a filthy car so i washed, polished and waxed it. The dealer said he thought I brought the wrong car back.

That is a good idea to try out some new products/techniques on a loaner though.
Usually I just do neutral drops and try to wear out the wheels in my loaners.
