You guys will never believe what I just saw.

OUCH

So there I was parking my car in the vacant lot in the back of our house, when I saw my Neighbor who always teases me about the paint of my car coming off cause I wipe my car down so often, washing his car. I was like cool... I gave him some extra space so he won't get any of his dirty suds on my car... As I sit there, locking my car I noticed something very peculiar. On the ground sits a dish washing soap of some kind and in his hand is a scotch brite. Not the sponge type but the green type that you use to scrub on your dirty dinnerware... :scared

I didn't say anything, I just smiled and walked away. The whole time thinking I hope he doesn't surprise me by washing my car for me... :nono Cause I will kill him...

Ah not to thread jack but on the top of "what i saw while detailing"...the other day I see my neighbor across the street back his truck into his van. He was going slow but I saw that van rock back and forth. He just pulls up, moves over, backs out, and takes off. This was a fairly new looking minivan too.

My driver was telling me the other day that, last week when he was waiting for my wife on an open parking slot he was parked right beside a Black BMW Series (something).

While he was waiting, the driver or chauffer of the Black BMW pulled out some detailing products out of the trunk of the Black BMW.

My driver (who happens to be my buddy in auto detailing) looked at the chauffer's detailing materials.

What he saw are the following:

1 Tub of Turtle Wax

1 Bottle of Keroseen

2 Pcs of Old Cotton T-Shirt.

1 Empty Ice Cream Bucket.

Having detected that the chauffer is in for a disaster he eagerly watch what will the chauffer do with his detailng materials.

This is what he saw.

1. The chaufer poured half a bottle of keroseen on his empty ice cream bucket.

2. Got a scoop of Turtle Wax

3. Mixed both Turtle Wax and Keroseen

and

4. Applied the "mixture" on the entire paint surface of the Black BMW "UNDER THE EXTREME HEAT OF THE SUN" using the Old Cotton T-Shirt.

Having been very :scared on what he saw... He was not able to stop the chauffer in doing what should'nt be done... Anyway, he asked the chauffer why did he mixed the keroseen with his wax and applied it under the heat of the sun... this is the answer he got.

QUOTE FROM THE CHAUFER:

"I am trying to remove some of the asphalt on top of the paint surface and at the same time I am applying wax protection on the car (BMW). I like doing it under the heat of the sun because I would like to bake the "mixture" on top of the paint surface and make it bond to the paint surface.

:wall

After the chauffer "baked the mixture", he then removed the mixture residue using one of the Old Cotton T-shirt... whola!!!

The end result was :scared WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

The chauffer then asked my driver (while smiling) what he thinks of his final output... :nixweiss

Wow, truly scary - on all accounts! :scared

OUCH, maybe the neighbor is trying to get that custom "brushed aluminum" look. :D

Maybe he should have told him that lighting the kerosene once it is on the vehicle would make the wax bond even more.

Ouch,

Maybe he mistakenly thought that Scotchbright=detailing clay?? LOL!!!!

jaim,

That has to be one of the best stories of "detailing disaster" that I have heard in a long time! LOL, "bake the mixture" man, who is this guy?! I think that chauffer needs to have a visit from the ASF (Autopia Strike Force). Perhaps the ASF could deliver Klasse or Zaino, and information on proper washing and polishing techniques?

My story.

Cousin wants me to "check" out his ride that he had just detailed. I look and notice that car has insect resiude on hood and front bumper. I am told that he merely washes and "waxes" over that because he "has no idea how to get it off, but that the wax makes it shiny anyway?!"

The tires were all covered in greasy dressing. He tells me that whenver he does'nt have time to wash the car, he applies tire dressing to give the car that "new" look. THE TIRES HAVE NEVER BEEN CLEANED!!!!

LOL!!!

This two side comments made me roll over the entire living room floor. :D

FROM waxman

"Maybe he should have told him that lighting the kerosene once it is on the vehicle would make the wax bond even more."

Waxman, yes your are perfectly right because once the keroseen has burned the Black BMW will truly be a "charcoal black".

FROM indy

" I've alerted the Darwin Society. Those morons will be receiving

their membership packets in 7-10 working days."

indy, that is a CLINCHER...

A simple application of a non alcohol baby wipe would do the trick with the insect crap. Gee some people have no idea.

No, No, No, you guys got it all wrong. This guy obviously used a "Teflon" paint sealant on his car, and everyone knows that the green kitchen sponges can safely be used on teflon! :p

Back about 15 years ago, I was sales manager at a Lincoln dealership. We hired a new kid as a lot porter, and told him to wash and wax for delivery a Cartier Edition Town Car that we'd just got in on dealer trade. 3 hours later, it still wasn't up from recon, so I went down to check on it. He was just finishing up the windows, but there were some ugly marks all over the hood and front. He proudly told me that there was some road tar that didn't come off with the wash, so he got it off with steel wool....
