you guys ever get this clunckers, and customers sitll want them done?

followup. The owner was still on vacation, so i explained to the secretary i didn't want to do the vehicles at the estimated quote, since the condition is far worse than average. The yukon was there, and the inside was the worst i have ever seen in 12 years. Stains everywhere, the beige leather was caked in dirt, cracked etc. Would have taken hours just for the interior. I wish i took some pictures show how bad it really was.

I have done my fair share of junk mobiles. The detail price can exceed the value of the car in some cases. I'll take just about anything, as long as the owner is willing to pay for the work and I have the time. I often find that the transformation on the junk mobiles is much, much larger than on the newer vehicles, and people are often shocked when they get them back. These people tend to go out and tell people about the great job you did, then you start getting more business.

TO a T!!!

if they have the desire for a quality detail, then its worth it! if they are ecstatic when completed, they tell their friends who have better condition cars and you get to detail those too!!!

you guys are right, that is why i want to talk to the owner first about the situation. No way am i going to detail these cars for 150 bucks, wouldn't be worth my time. only problem i have with them other than being really dirty, amount of body damage on the vehicles.

I only read the first 5 post I think. To the person who posted this. I understand how you feel. (Kinda)

The reason why I say I understand is because I don't charge much for what I do. I can clean interiors and use good products. I can not buff with a Rotary for my life but then again I don't offer showroom finish on the exterior. There is nothing I hate more then having to go somewhere and getting into a situation where your doing 10x the work for 1x the pay. I hate that crap!

The reason why I don't understand you is because you make it seem as if a bad car can not look good? You might be used to upscale clients but you need to understand that most people with junk cars are not always broke. And most people with a ****** car would be happy with you just doing as good a job possible and they will love it! All you need to do is explain to them that the end results will be a certain way and not showroom finish.

sorry for the rant. lol

if you haven't allready, create a contract that demands their signature next to the price listed. If they approve it, then don't pay it, pocket the keys and call the cops. They are liable and have to pay you as they agreed to the terms in your contract.
