Yet another Foam Gun question

I've read through lot of threads on foam gun technique but I didn't see anyone mentioning this. Are you guys doing a regular water rinse of the vehicle before you "pre-soak" the car with the foam gun? In most of the posts that I've read people are saying things like "First, I pre-soak the car with the foam gun, then I do a panel at a time, etc...".

I just got my foam gun today and was wondering about this. Is it just that it's obvious that you have to first rinse the dirt off with water so noone mentions it when talking about the foam gun?

Thanks.

I have a foam gun and I do a rinse before putting on the foam. This helps knock out initial dirt before the foam and anything else like your washmitt touches the paint.

Yeah, if nothing else it'll knock/rinse off the loose stuff and start the solvent-action thing on the dirt that's left.

I haven't bought one yet (too cold to use it until spring anyways), however I'm planning on using instead of a regular "rinse" before doing a traditional bucket wash. I figure the added soap/foam in the rinse phase will help to eliminate some of the "dirt" before a mitt ever touches a panel.

Its kind of like how for QEW washes I have a 2 gallon sprayer that I fill with a slightly more concentrated solution and spray each panel before I wash it with a bucket of QEW solution and a mitt....

That's sort of how I use mine as well, except I use a "regular" car wash and I do a "pre rinse" with plain water.

HAPPY FOAMING!

I'll post some pictures tomorrow. My moms car needs a good washing. I just got done layering wax on mine.

Sorry. I didn't take any pics. I was too excited when the foam was flying that I forgot.

It was awesome though. I'm going to make a new thread on the new products I tried in a minute so check that thread out.
