Hi all.
These specks just won't come off.
Any ideas on what to use to remove them?
Tried clay,paint cleaners...

Do you know what they are (helps a lot)??? Maybe you went over a freshly painted double yellow line?

Is it tree sap?
Rubbing alcohol will sometimes work.
I haven't used Methyl Hydrate, but I have read that it will also remove sap.
FWIW, I have encountered tree sap that I was only able to remove by scraping it with a fingernail.
Most of our vehicles have a good coating of protection and the sap comes off fairly easily.
If the sap gets on unprotected paint, it can be a real challenge. It's almost like it becomes part of the paint.

It's definitetly not road paint.
Charles you may be correct. It's some kind of plant or tree gunk but it won't come off using a fingernail.I'll have to try some alcohol. The specks are pinhead sized and a yellowish orange. Not overwhelming but here and there.Hardly seen on pearl white but I know they are there.:)

It's caused by using Zaino.:crazy2:

Got a picture? Can You feel them?

If you can't chip it off with your finger nail then it is probably a paint or epoxy/sealer that has been oversprayed from nearby. Certain epoxies will be harder to remove than others you might just need to get more aggressive with your clay.

If it were the little yellow bumps that are rained down from certain trees. It's not sap and is a pain to remove. You pretty much have to knock the main part of them off with your fingernail then any mild solvent or paint cleaner or clay will finish removing it.

Please be careful trying to remove them with your fingernail! You'll have nasty scratches to remove after you get them off.

See if you can find some 3M Tar and Adhesive remover... give that a try.

If it's paint over spray, you may have to after them with a cutting polish.

I used to look at a customer's black Mercedes the wrong way and it would get a swirl :lol2:

If dirt can scratch paint, so can fingernails.
How about an experiment?
Try scratching your paint with a fingernail then wipe your soft hand across a dirty painted panel.
Let us know which caused the most damage.
I don't think you will even be able to see where you scraped the paint with your fingernail, but you can determine that for yourself.

Sure... let's try it on your vehicle.

OK.
I'll do the fingernail scrape test on my vehicle, you do the dirt rub on your vehicle.

Charles
My part is done.
On the red GP, my thumbnail made very little impression in my LSP after a total of 20 passes, both forward and backward or a total of 40 thumbnail scrapes. The "marring" if it could be called that was removed with an application of Dura Gloss #105 TPP which is a pretty mild cleaner sealant. It happened to be what I had in the garage at the time, but I think I would get the same results with any cleaner wax/sealant.

FWIW, JoeB has already said that the stuff wouldn't come off using a fingernail so the whole conversation is not only off-topic, but pointless as well.

I agree... pointless.

The next time you get some over spray or something tough stuck on your paint... work on it with your fingernails for a while... let me know how it works out for you. :D

I've read threw a few threads that you have made comments on...you are very confrontational in some ways...not saying that you can't speak your mind, but it seems to the point, that its your way or the highway...trust me this site is very well run, and there is little to no tolerance for those that are in an argumentative position all the time...this is one of the best sites for auto detailing info that I have visited in the last several years...have a good time here read what others have done learn from their experiences, and keep an open mind that there are other ways to do things than your own

Not being argumentative. In this thread, I tried to make a point about not using your fingernails to remove stuff stuck on your paint. I think that was constructive. Somebody tired to make fun of that in a smart way. I countered.

In another thread, I tried to make a point about being careful when you touch your paint. I think that was also constructive. Again, that same person tried to make fun of it in a smart way. I countered.

In both cases, I was making constructive points. The other person started the argument... I just finished it. I think the other person has the issues.

Lastly, if you have something like the above to say to me, do it in a PM... don't preach to me in public.
