y'all need to see this!! Tundra makeover!

damnnn taking all those parts out one by one thats crazy I would've made good good money if I did that job, haha thats a great job though

wow, talk about detailing...that's the meaning of it right there. Neat to see something like that as opposed to the exotics that usually get that type of attention.

Kevin blows me away with his knowledge and attention to detail. As Jason Rose said " one of the best detailers in the world".

The value of that Tundra probably shot through the roof just from detailing it. Inspired me greatly! gives me some ideas to do to my truck as well in the spring.

..and to think he did it all with nothing but "lowly" Meguiar's products :D

Maybe that's why I use 90%+ Meguiar's stuff too! :idea

^Its not the products its the process...

Don't justify your choice because Kevin Brown (one of the best in the world) uses it as well. Thats like me saying I use a 34 oz bat because Barry Bonds uses one...

That said, HOLY CRAP this is a great detail!

:rofl

Of course we all need to :bow to Kevin. That goes without saying.

My only point is that someone with that much knowledge (and freedom to choose his products, unlike some athletes who have endorsements and they use products for that reason) and skill decides to use Meguiar's at the end of the day because it makes his job easier. Well, I guess I better not put words in his mouth... maybe Kevin will chime in with why he uses Meguiar's.

All I know is that I sure can't think of another single product as effective and versatile as M105 that could have been used interchangeably in that detail (ie, Kevin's "process" was still in place...) and produced the same or better results. :xyxthumbs

**Amazing work Kevin...seriously, very nice attention to detail. :bigups

What other compounds have you tried besides M105?

Optimum compound, Optimum Hyper compound, Turtle wax rubbing compound (...back in the day, lol), M84, M85, M86, Menzerna Power Gloss, and hi-temp extreme cut. I think that's it off the top of my head.

To be perfectly honest, once I experienced M105 I stopped even bothering with other compounds as I have yet to have a bad experience with that product (In terms of it producing a bad finish, or not removing a defect...I did struggle the first couple times I used it with dusting, until people started to chime in about the importance of cleaning your pad etc).

Why do you ask? ;)

I ask because in my experience, M105 is not a unique product. It's not a criticism, though because I love M105. It's just that there's a few products I am confident that can do everything it can (though, perhaps not as easily).

I think a lot of people just got really excited about this stuff over on MOL. :rofl

I guess ;)

I don't know of any other compounds that have been used with such wide success on so many surfaces (metal, plastic, and glass for cleaning...[not glass defect removal]). It also finishes down better than any other compound I have used or read about with the same or more cutting ability. I've personally finished out 100% LSP ready with a rotary on paint with M105 and a polishing pad only. Can't say any other compound in my arsenal ever presented me that option.

That's what I was referring to in regards to the versatility of the product.

...and I don't think it's just MOL, do a search for "compound" on Autopia and you might be surprised by the overwhelming presence of praise and recommendation for M105 in comparison to others. It's pretty good stuff...

But hey, enough of me babbling... I know there are TONS of amazing products out there, and a good part of them are made by companies *other* than Meguiar's. Heck, I have some! I was purely trying to make a subtle comment/praise for M105 especially since Kevin managed to use it on plastic in that detail... :cooleek:

kevin i've said iy before about other detailers who have shared their details with us and were truly outstanding work done by very knowledgable detailers, "paul dalton has nothing on you"' that was without a doubt the most thoroughist detail i've ever seen, magnificent job kevin. we can all learn something from that detail.:wow:

FLASHBACKS! Arrrghhh....! :soscared:

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. It's nice to see an old post regain life every now and then.
