Xtreme Vehicle Makeover - 2005 Infiniti G35 Edition

Thank you!

Drew: You cut like HTEC, but it's as easy to work with as OCP.

artik: To tell you the truth, I tried HTEC alone on the hood and did not like it. It gums up the pad a bit, dusts, and doesn't finish as clean. IMO, OCP is it's complimentary product. Just place the two beads next to each other and begin working. It leaves a nice enough finish to go to a final (type) polish.

Very interesting. I just ordered a quart of HTEC yesterday from TOL (they are so close that ground shipping is getting it here today!). I may have to order some OP from them now. Have you ever tried mixing HTEC and RMG?

Nope.

I have heard some rather good success stories via Cyclo and PC, that HTEC/Opt will finish 100% clean. If that is the case, I'm sure RMG could make a pretty good substitute.

Good to hear. Tonight or tomorrow I'll test out the HTEC on some areas I haven't fixed on my hood.. I'll mix with RMG and see how it goes, then decide if I should get some OP.

I always here that OP's aggressiveness varies greatly by pad. If you are able to, would you be able to say what other products it is comparable to on diff pads (like... same as SSR1 and #82 on a grey pad, same as #83 and SSR2.5 on an orange, etc)

Thanks, sorry for so many random questions, didn't wanna hijack, just knew you knew what was up when it came to these products.

Beautiful work Sean! I hope to have your rotary skills someday. But I am not real supprised at the condition of the car. My wife and I went shopping for a used G35 with Navi a few weeks ago. We loved how the car drove but hated how bad a year old car looked. The paint had a ton of rock chips and the interior was very beat up! Her 10 year old ES 300 looks better inside that the G35s we saw that day that were oly a year old.

Drew: OP cuts a little less than IP, similar to SSR2.

zippy: It's gotta be the owner. You should check for certified pre-owned models and even some forums (G35driver.com) if you are serious. Mine is holding up great :).

Awesome work Sean! :bow

I have two questions though:

1. How can a dealer allow their people to *&%$# a car up like that? You'd think appearance would be a high priority.

2. How can anyone buy a car like that and leave it that filthy?

Inquiring minds want to know. :LOLOL

sensational turn around ! but its you? so that's expected.. heh heh

anyways, did you get any further hologramming with the first rotary pass using that LC cutting pad at 1500 rpm ? on the hood ? If so, i'd think they would be "cleaned up" by your second rotary pass with the polishing pad ?

Scott: Clueless on both accounts!

tumbler: With the heat, the HTEC/OCP left a little extra hologramming. The two compounding passes were needed due to the deep swirling on the hood. BF Ceramiclear Finishing Polish cleaned everything up wonderfully.

I'm sure you are right. I was just soo disapointed at how the interior was holding up on year old cars. It left a bad impression on my wife. I am glad yours is holding up so well , but you could make and old Geo look good. :waxing:

I would say that I am surprised of this transformation...but I would expect absolutely nothing less from you.

In a word...stunning. :waxing: :bow
