XMT alternative?

I have XMT 1 through 4 and have been less than satisfied with the results of this stuff.....



40min on this hood and this is the best I could do. ( orange to yellow E2k pads with pc)



Is there any other products that would give me better

results?

I'm not really familiar with those XMT polishes, but some of those are pretty deep scratches. There's plenty of agressive polish regimens...Menzerna, Hi-Temp, Optimum. I don't know how much polishing experience you have, have you removed defects before, or is this your first time? And what kind of car? Depending on the paint and your technique, it can take a suprisingly long amount of time to remove defects with a PC.
 
Its only the 2nd time I've tried to remove scratches. This Blue paint is on my girlfriends 03 Toyota Matrix. I just used the technique that is on the video at AG. Going all horizontal and then switching to vertical.
 
Judging by the depth of those scratches, only a rotary would be able to perfect that hood in less than an hour. However, a PC with 4" pads will knock the deep stuff down far faster than a PC with 6" pads - and Edge makes 4" pads that pop right on to your adapter. Consider trying XMT 4 with a 4" green pad, then go back up with a 4" orange and XMT 2, then a 4 or 6" yellow with XMT 1.



If you need more cut than XMT 4... you need a rotary and wool pads :)
 
THanks for the tip Themightytimah. Guess I'll have to live with it. Guess I just bought into the hype of XMT#4.
 
I don't know if XMT#4 is hyped, but the lack of result is probably mostly due to the limitations of the PC. That being said, you could try again using a couple of slow passes with XMT#4 on a cutting pad, followed by XMT#3 (or 2) on a light cutting pad, and then XMT#1 on a polishing pad.



BTW, if the scratches are so deep that you can feel them with a fingernail, you shouldn't remove them no matter what tool you are using, as you would be removing to much clear in the process. This could leave to early clear coat failure.
