does anyone have a sample of any of the zymol EGZ that they wouldn't mind letting me try? i have been reading good things about it and want to give it a try, but hoping someone has a sample they would sell before i spend another 100+ on another wax. not looking for vintage or royale, but any of the other EGZ, like titanium, glasur, or concours.

send me a pm with asking price and amount.

THanks.

Too bad they don't offer the sampler packs any more...I know how selling Vintage is a :nono and all that...but some people would be serious prospects for such EGs *if they could try them* and *IMO* a lot of the people who are able to afford such stuff are too financially aware to blindly spend that kind of money on a wax just to see if they like it; they didn't get financially secure by being stupid or by blindly trusting the opinions of others ;)

Heh heh, though I will say that I'd put a *LOT* of stock in the opinions of certain Zymol fanatics here at Autopia ;)

Sheesh, what'd be wrong with being able to buy ~$500 worth of Vintage to see if you like it :nixweiss

Exactly my point. If it's worth the $1500 I'm willing to pay for it. Heck, it's for my car anyway. I won't however be spending money on every one of their waxes until i find something i like. I tried some of their under $100 waxes and was not impressed.

Perhaps you should give concours a shot. I have heard it is similar (not the same) in looks to vintage. It is applied in a similar fashion so its probley the closet you will get without getting the real thing. Althout itis 200 bucks for one jar it could be looked at as. If i like the 200 buck one awsoe I will use it and perhaps buy vintage. If I dont like it then well its 200 not 2000 so you only spend 10% of what you were going to spend... so i would say try concours... it is an awsoe wax. Much nicer then the hand crafted line

$175 on their site for concours. Anywhere else to get it? I'm giving Blackfire a shot before I get this Concours. I bought it a couple of months ago but have not tested it. I usually use Victoria wax for my car.

vw is great, and will be hard to beat. Its my goto wax.

As for concours. You can get it from alot of sites online however i belive they have to sell for the sae price as zymol so itsnot easy to get it any cheaper.

I don't know if they still do it, but around x-mas time Zymol used to always put Concours on sale for maybe $99-$120.

I will say that since I started using Zymol about 10 years ago their prices have pretty much doubled.

kapinnn- It'll be interesting to see what you think of BF. I used it for a while on the S8 and was able to do side-by-side comparisons with my wife's identically painted A8 that had different LSPs on it.

I do wonder how EGs would compare with the UPP I'm currently using on the S8, but there's no way I'll ever know ;)

calgarydetail- Wonder if this is a decent analogy: why try Councours to see if you'll like Vintage; it'd be like trying Roederer's Brut Premier to see if you'd like the taste of their Cristal. The two champagnes are utterly different, although they do share certain "house characteristics"...I'd expect the same to be true about those two waxes. (And FWIW, no I don't especially like Roederer's champagnes ;) ).

Lol, nice champagne analogy. So I put a thread on Car Detailing about a possible purchase of Concours. I'm thinking about getting it along with some other goodies from ocdgarage. roughly $175 shipped for concours, OP, OC, OHC, and ONR. not bad eh?

i was simply saying tryin another one of there products to see how the "family" is. Some people hate applying the wax with there palms and dont like the look witha foam applicator. For these people it would seem a waste to buy vintage.

As well there have been a couple posts on this and other forums that compare concours to vintage, saying they are similar in application, apperance, and durability. Its as close as you can get without spending the big bucks.

I get what you are saying... makes me want a glass of champagne and a nice salad..anyway.. i get your point however 2g is alot to drop in blind faith so why not try the next best thinga s its 1/10th the price. It then gives you an idea of what zymol offers

kapinnn- Yeah, that sounds like a lot of good stuff for the $

calgarydetail- Yeah, I'm not really :argue with you on that...in fact, one could easily turn my analogy back against me and point out that I simply don't like Roederer the way I do some other houses and that could be what I'd experience with Zymol. (Didn't have to try Cristal to know I don't like Roederer's signature taste; don't have to try Vintage to know I do/don't care for Zymol's "signature look").

Heh heh, whenever I can easily :argue either side of a discussion I know I need to check my premises :D

Heh heh#2...this is a good example of paralysis by analysis huh? Good thing I'm not in any hurry here (that was directed at *you* lbls1 :D ).

Haha, no i wasnt try to argue either. I guees ijust felt as thought i needed to explain it, perhaps it wasnt clear enough... ohh well.

All this talk of champagne makes methirtsy.. I thik im going to open a nice bottle of 2005 mission hill merlot

Hey...hey there!!!!! Whoa.........you want a piece of me Accumulator pal?? After all we've been thru.....all of the laughs..............

Seriously: I'll take Calgary's defense on this one (not siding with anyone....just like engaging with the Accumulator on some good lsp notetaking). I would be hard pressed if I would ever recommend anyone dropping a lot of money on vintage without having an idea of what to expect. That is why I strongly recommend curious potential buyers to first try out zymol's entry level waxes. Its my opinion that all of the Authentic Zymols share a basic finish (*looks* if you will.....now you're gonna hear me...was trying not to talk too much) characteristic. Concours posseses amazing gloss and clarity that will compete with many of the best wax products in the market. I recommend trying a wax like concours because if you are satisfied with the results, then you would have a choice of either staying with concours or moving to the more expensive zymols.

Now, taking your side Accumulator; Despite any suggested ability that a zymol may have, remember that *looks* are subjective at best. What may look optimal on my paint surface may not necessarily meet your objectives or budget with your car. If I told you to run out now and spend 2k on wax, and ultimately it fails your inspection, it would warrant you to jump thru the screen for some one sided fisticuffs.......so I'll (laughing) never tell you to jump into the lake without telling you first what to expect, and also to practice in the baby pool (no offense to HC or Concours fans....just an analogy).

Now.......that wasn't too long winded..........can we go back to being best pals??????

Edit: My apologies for the unintended hijack!

lbls1- Heh heh, I wonder what newbies think when they see some of our exchanges :chuckle:

People in the Jag club use the lesser Zymols and they simply don't impress me; they could say it's P21S or Griot's BOS (depending on the paint) and I doubt I'd know the difference.

Back in the day a pal of mine detailed using Zymol's Titanium (must've been when it first came out) and my *Malm's liquid* looked better to me and he even agreed.

If (OK, OK...."when"..) I try an EG, I want to use something that'll blow me away if anything will...wonder which would look best on that weird metallic gray ss lacquer

IMO, I would go right for Destiny and skip Concours (I might get shot here). Destiny is worth the extra money just from a usage perspective. Of course the argument then is why not go right for Vintage? If you want to stay around $200 I'd personally go with Swissvax Concorso over Concours. Just ime, of course.

In terms of looks I think Destiny or Swissvax Mystery are both a good indication of how Vintage will look; they clean up similarly too.

Ah, good, appreciate the additional info (esp. about the cleanup characteristics).

Is Destiny one of thoe "refillable" EGs...wondering if that's what you meant by the "usage perspective"?

Looks like I oughta study up on the various Swissvax products too...I've been pretty Zymol-centric on this topic.

Ooh, while I don't mind spending about $200 for a wax $500 sounds like a bit much. At least at this point in life!! I'm going to Italy next week and Brazil in October, so I gotta save $ !!!

So Swissvax Consorso, eh? I'll look into it! Thanks for the tip.

EDIT: Does anyone know where to get Swissvax for cheaper than the website? I can get Zymol Concours for $164 shipped so I'd like to get Concorso for $200 or less shipped.

Concours is a little tough to use, Destiny is not exactly Souveran-easy, but it is an order of magnitude easier than Concours. Destiny is not refillable, Vintage is the first refillable one, iirc.

Not sure if Philip offers an Autopian discount.
