Writer's strike & Union opinions

All these Unions and strikes are becoming a joke in my eyes. I work for GM and the union is quickly and has been on the decline for years! The big three strike, Michigan's gov't strike for 4 hours or what ever it was, and now the writers union. Whats next? Cruise ship employees next for a strike? What a joke!

These guys aren't greedy nor rich in most cases. These are working guys that are the big part of what makes these shows happen. When their work gets resold they should be compensated IMO.

Don't they sign contracts with the producers for this?

I think this is another case where you have too many people going for a limited number of jobs. Due to the oversupply and limited demand, the pay for that job will suffer. Over time, the lack of pay will result in fewer potential employees entering the field and supply and demand for employees will start to even out.

I definitely look at these Union strikes on a case by case basis.

From what I know of the issues here, I have to say that I support the writers!

Unions do have their place. Unfortunately, it seems that at times they can also do more harm than good.

I couldn't care less about either side in this issue. It is TV for goodness sake, is there anything on these days that is really worth watching? To me TV is just something you do when you are bored and there isn't anything else to do. I wouldn't really miss it if it were gone tomorrow...

I am pro-union so I am interested but I agree with the comment about there is nothing to watch and couldnt care less if its gone. There are 3 shows on the big 4 I watch otherwise everything else is on TLC, Discovery, History, FoodTV or news reporting.

I'm on strike towards answering this thread...If you want to know my opinion I'll send you my PayPal address....:closed:
