Sorry if this has been asked before.. but is it safe to wash dirty towels with all that chemicals in the washer? I was thinking of going to coin-ops and wash it there.. but that's kinda troublesome.. what do you do with yours?

Run a second cycle, with nothing in the washer, using vinegar instead of soap.

Cleans all those chemicals out of the machine.

By the way, never wash glass towels with polish towels, and never use a "softener" when washing or drying glass towels.

The chemical that softens is a dimethal based silicone and may create streaking when you clean the next time.

Ron's points are good. I segregate my wheel towels, also, and pre-wash them. You do not want to get your paint towels contaminated with brake dust. Detegent will not dissolve brake dust.

1. Make sure the Boss isn't home.

2. Keep running rinse cycles until the water appears clean and clear.

3. Make some sort of dinner plans if you trashed the inside of the washing machine!!

And use the hot water cycle for the wash cycle.

Ahh, it will be a bit pungent around the washer/dryer area for a little while.

Suggest you take the sig. other out for dinner while this is going on.
