Would you recommend using a Claifornia Duster

I gave mine away to my classmate..... I used it alot when I had my white Acura, worked great...... Then I tried it on my black Z and left streaks galore..... Since then, it just took up space.....

I love my CCD! :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

I have a jet black car and it works great! I think the key is that I dust my car off at least two times per day if my car is outside. I also will dust it off before I leave the garage and when I get back home. I also usually QD my car each time I get back home in the garage as well.

My theory is that if the car never gets very dirty, the CCD is great. Once the car is dirty, a wash is the only real solution.

Cheers,

My Black 7 Series

I do the same thing...loveCCD:xyxthumbs ...

AMP YOU're as 'crazy' as I am

I finally used mine this weekend. I'm very impressed with it thus far. I used it after my drive to Dallas. And used it again when I got back into Austin!

I too am a CCD fan. But I mostly use them at Concours events, after everything else is freshly done, and I just need to remove those last dust specks before judging begins.

One of my Jaguar clubmates taught me how to use it: Just barely let the CCD touch surface -- use it so lightly that you're not entirely sure you're touching the car surface. Use it more as a "magnet" than a "dustrag."

Unfortunately, I see lots of people using them inappropriately. The other day, I saw a guy going at his truck so hard that I wanted to go out and take the CCD away from him. He was using the sort of pressure you'd use with a suede brush on your rattiest shoes. [Does anybody but me even remember suede shoes??]

Suede shoes.....white bucks....black and pink mens clothes....sure I remember. Sha-boom!

I've had two over the last 12 years, first one was stolen:(

Here's the procedure I use which has never caused scratching:

I use this procedure after every drive (unless it's been rained on)

1. Before I start I hold the CCD and twist my wrist clockwises/counterclockwise quickly to remove any larger particles collected from the previous dusting.

2. Lightly wipe down the car with the duster shaking frequently as described in step 1. Never use the CCD on your wheels unless it strictly for your wheels.

3. Follow up with your favorite QD.

Since my car hasn't seen rain in the last 8 months I've only washed it with water once, the CCD and QD is used the rest of the time.
