Would you compare Megs #7 to say Vanilla Moose...

Was at Checker today and say Megs #7 they say it is a pure polish. How is this different from say vanilla moose or 3M SMR which also claims it is a polish. I know the 3M has some abrasives to it.

When I used 3M SMR it left a haze on my car with the PC. The vanilla moose too out the haze. I get confused if I should use both of these products or if I should just use one of them. Any advise would be great. Thanks!

Meguiar's #7 has very little polishes in it, practically none. Its meant to cover up swirls in preperation for a nice carnauba topper.

There goes Meguiar's again with their set of terms......

SMR with the PC isn't supposed to smear. How long did you work it into the paint. Technique has a lot to do with this. Do a search for PC techniques, lots of threads on it especially the one helping the DACP Pc and @!$@##@$#.

FUEL- The "#7 is a polish" description is another example of uhm, different companies using terminology differently. If you already have the VM I wouldn't bother with the #7. I used to use #7 back in the day, but don't any more. There are newer products available these days that I like a lot better, like VM.

The VM has some VERY fine abrasives in it (#7 is more or less non-abrasive), but nothing you need to worry about. IMO, it does everything the #7 does and then some, even provides some protection, and I find it easier to use, too.

according to Everett owner of Clear Kote VM has No abrasives whatsoever. Its a chemical process with no abrasives. I actually heard this from him last night. Im just as confused with most labels, it really makes things harder than they should be. The industry should clarify things better, the average consumer would probably feel more comfortable and buy more product in the long run.

My 2 cents

FalconGuy- I thought it was Moose Wax that was a purely chemical cleaner. Hmm, now I'M confused too. I don't see how VM can remove scratches as claimed unless it's abrasive. And so many companies claim products are "non-abrasive", but when you check the ingredients there are, in fact abrasive materials in there. Not arguing with you or casting aspersions on Everett, just :nixweiss . It sure SEEMED abrasive when I was using it (though mildly so).

I second Accumulator. Moose Wax has light chemical cleaners and Vanilla Moose has light abrasive cleaners and I verified that with Everett when I met him at the Pate Swap Meet.

I also prefer VM to #7 or even Meguiars Hand Polish. It leaves the paint brighter and more reflective and far slicker. #7 has a very slight depth edge, but if you are topping with a carnuba you are going to get the depth anyway. VM is also a lot easier to remove.

Great info thanks guys! I have been using VM, Final Polish and then toping with S100. The results are very nice. Almost too shiney if there is such a thing.

It keeps getting weirder.... He (Everett) did tell that via phone 2 nights ago

Either way I like it for ease of use.... Abrasives or not...

Well, the important thing about the VM is that most people are very happy with it (occasional bad batches notwithstanding) and with the ClearKote customer service.

Does FP add anything to VM?

Would putting #7 on top of VM increase the shine?
