Just saw this for sale and was wondering if it would be heavy duty enough for any detailing purpose. What do yall think and what could you do with it?

I think it's strictly for removing wrinkles in clothing. I don't think it's made to clean stains and such. I doubt there would be much force to the steam, nor much heat. More like a gentle mist softly caressing the gentle fibers ... Gee... this is starting to sound like a TV commercial! :D

Yeah that's something you'd find in a retail clothing store, it's just low pressure steam like a clothes iron would put out.

Personally I'm about fed up with el cheapo detailing/cleaning steamers and their inconsistent results. It's one of those tools where you just have to invest in a good unit in order to get something effective and long-lasting.... which means I'll probably end up dropping some coin on a commercial grade unit in the near future. :surrender

After having my commercial grade steamer stolen last year, and having to go back to compressed air to blow out the cracks and crevises, THEN going mobile and not being able to run an air compressor, I ended up buying a $30 "tea kettle" steamer. To be honest I like it as a replacement for air since it does a really good job on vents and tight areas when paired up with a good interior cleaner. However, its useless for carpet, seats, etc. The machine you have in your post isnt what your looking for. There are usually a ton of Vapor Clean machines on Ebay dirt cheap. My next one is going to be a Desiderio since it steams and also extracts. Search Ebay for "vapor steam cleaners" or something along those lines.

I think he may be just referencing his longstanding dislike of the Desiderio model that he mentioned in that thread (2007).

Gotcha.... but I'm kinda curious since he then mentions (in that linked thread) preferring a commercial-grade vapor cleaner what he's using or would recommend.

I, too, was very strongly considering the Desiderio but if there are better options I'd love to hear some folks give a unifying opinion/recommendation since thus far it looks like people have tools from all over the map with regard to make/model. All I know for sure is that I want a unit capable of continuous fill, has a good warranty, and will give me consistent vapor output instead of sputtering like my current non-commercial steamer does.

My old Vapor Chief would do everything you've described but they are very big and expensive. If I wasn't mobile I would get another one without hesitation, but they are way too big for most mobile setups.
