Would this be too much?

Well, I recently completed my first buff job on my 99' Grand prix and now it is pretty much swirl free. However, I had to use my PC with a cuttting pad with 1zUPP, followed by the polishing pad with 1zPP and the polishing pad with 1ZMPP, on the whole car. Recently, my battery went dead and I needed a jump start, and when the guy put on his jumper cables I realized they had a metal clip on them and they put some pretty good scratches into my paint on my fender. I was just wondering if I could still buff them out. I'm sure it will take a cutting pad and 1ZUPP, but will this take of ALL of my clear coat??? I'm sure its already pretty thin from before. Anyone think I should just leave it? Please help.

I would first try PP with a white pad. If it does not work, move up to a yellow pad. Follow up with MP on a white pad if needed.

I'd follow andriver's proceedures.

I wouldn't worry about going through your clear. The PC and single applications of the above products probably didn't take off that much clear. If you used multiple passes of each product and have done the whole procedure a few times (or someone else has aggressively polished the car previously) then you might want to err on the safe side and live with just reducing the scratch's appearance rather than trying to remove completely.
