Would Steam Help?

A 335i BMW that I work on occasionally has baked on brake dust on the wheels that I haven't been able to remove with cleaners or clay bar. Would a steamer be of any use to help clean up ?

Some people here claim the steamer works great for this, but IMO it's not all that effective.

But OTOH, my better steamer *did* clean up the (cad plated) calipers of the RX-7, which had probably never been cleaned in over 20 years. It was really, really slow going though, and my other steamer was utterly ineffective.

A steamer would not hurt, that is for sure. It all depends what steamer you have, because most of those you see on tv infomercials do not have the power to clean coated wheels.

I have a cheap steamer (Shark). I'll give it a try next time. Do I need to worry about damaging the wheel coating?
