would like to try a new polish, recommendations?

So I have a few questions, quick easy. First, last year I used Poorboys SSR 2.5 and SSR 1 and I was pleased with the job it did on my galaxy silver Grand Prix, I just wasn't crazy about the amount of dusting left to clean out of cracks and crevices. But I'd really like to try something new this year. My cars paint is in very good shape as it is. So what all would you recommend that's comparable to SSR 2.5 in terms of its abrasiveness. I don't need a compound or anything like that, but was wondering about things like Menzerna IP, Optimum polish, etc... are these any more abrasive than 2.5? Overkill for me? As I said, just planning to do some *light* corrective work.

Also I was thinking about trying this: Wolfgang Glaze

But since I use Poorboys EX-P as my LSPs, I wasn't sure if I would run into bonding issues with using that glaze under the EX-P? Just kinda feel like trying something new though. Once I run out of EX-P I plan to try the Collinite 845 wax topped with Souveran, would using that glaze be ok with that wax?

Thanks for the help guys!

What about menz final polish? I used it with a white pad with good results. I followed with po87mc, an IPA wipedown and was very pleased. You could also check out the sonus polishes - the sfx-3 finishes very, very nice.

I have the SFX-3... I'm mostly looking for recommendations on abrasive polishes. Something comparable to SSR 2.5, I don't need a compound, but just looking to try something new. I just don't know much about the Menzerna intensive or Optimum, like if they're drastically more abrasive or anything like that.

Menz 106 with white pad and either 85RD or 87MC as a final polish. If you are using a glaze, polish first, glaze and then wax. Wax with 845 or Souveran not both, you can 2X each wax.

I started using menzerna 2 years ago and never looked back. But I don't understand why you have something that you say works well, but now want to change? If you have something that works, stick with it, and don't buy into the hype that is created on this site for all these mediocre products.

^ well I'm not really trying to buy into hype. I don't actually own any abrasive polishes, the Poorboys I referred to using is actually just a friends that I use when I do my big detail, I have regular polishes for my normal polish/wax details, but nothing for just simply taking out scratches. So I was looking to buy a bottle of something. But I don't need anything that's more abrasive then 2.5, so how does the Menzerna IP and Optimum Polish and like, Megs #80 stack up is what I'm asking? Plus if it's ok to use a glaze such as the wolfgang under my EX-P as I know some sealants and glazes have bonding issues. The 845 I want to try because I hear it offers much better protection than EX-P. The Liquid Souveran I'd use as a topper mostly for look, why would it be bad to use both?

Becuse the LS has solvents and will remove the 845. All liquid nuba waxes have solvents to make the nuba liquid.

^ Hmm, I thought the LS was pure, I know it doesn't offer much protection which is why I've always been told it'd be a good topper to a sealant. It says it's pure anyway. So, assuming I'm using EX-P... should I be using LS under or on top of it? Or not at all? I haven't actually opened it yet so I haven't tried it.

Chris, I went from the Poorboy polishes (SSR 2.5, 2, and 1) to Menzerna's Super Intensive Polish and Nano. The improvement in the job accomplished was more dramatic than I ever expected.

I'll never go back. Menzerna is the bomb! :2thumbs:
