Well, I got a call from a loyal customer yesterday wanting me to work on a car that just came over from Japan. Luckily, it was my last day off of school between semesters (96% average :buffing: ) and I was happy to help him out.
Car was in worse shape than I had hoped, and was all excited that I'd have something to post in the extreme detail section, but my pictures ended up turning out like crap. :furious:
Anyways, I think it was a early 90's MR2, single stage red, and wow, she was in bad shape. Oxidized beyond believe, and the roof paint was white. The photo's of the hood (only real befores I got) were completly a bust, so I guess I couldn't enter it into the Xtreme Detailing contest, but oh well, live and learn.
Process was:
XP Compound (SSR3 equivilant) and Cutting pad on PC at speed 6.
SSR 2.5 on cutting pad at speed 6.
XP Swirl Remover via Dewalt rotary with Automagic Polishing pad at 1300 RPM.
SSR1 on finishing pad via rotary at 1500 RPM.
Automagic New Car Glaze via finishing pad
Collonite Super Double Coat wax x2
Tires got Automagic "dress it right" diluted 2:1
Trim got Poorboys Trim Restorer
Rims were cleaned with Blue Magic polishing cream
Here comes the crappy, crappy befores. All were taken after step 1, so most oxidation was removed.
No shine:
Left half of light is missing from oxidation:
Yuck, no shine at all:
\
Afters coming up.
