working on "the sandbox" (what I call the hood of my car)

...because that's what the previous owner must have used it for.

Anyhow, I'm still a noob, even after a year of fun, and I'll always be learning. Here's my latest experiment at tackling the sandbox:

1) DACP with wool cutting pad, 3x.

2) Menzerna white with orange compounding pad, 2x.

3) Menzerna black with white polishing pad, 2x.

4) Pinnacle PWCL, once with waffle polishing pad.

Results: not bad. I can't take pix yet, because I touched up a couple stone chips and I have to let those dry before I wax it tomorrow (with Souv paste, my favorite). Some of the scratches and acid rain marks are forever (or until I decide to paint), but I'd say that anything that you can't feel with a fingernail is gone. And, even the stuff I now notice is gone, only I saw anyhow; everyone else thought the car looked awesome!

I welcome any opinions and suggestions; did I make any obvious errors or omissions? Is there anything I could do better, or steps I could add or skip? If I decided to use a polymer, how long should I wait before topping with Souv?

Did you use a rotary or a PC? If a rotary, maybe you could have gone through a Fine Cut or Heavy Cut Compound in the place of DACP.

The PC. I'm afraid to go any farther with it at this point; the paint is getting pretty thin. It's as good as it's going to get. Now, on to the trunk!
