Woolite meet Soccer Mom, Soccer Mom meet Woolite!!

What a waste of an Odyssey's interior. Fast food and drinks are not to be eaten or drank in my Sienna. Only water.

I have carpet lined up to try to catch all the crap before hitting the carpet.

All the praise is great, But an EXTRACTOR with a rinse agent was needed to remove all that chemical that was put in the vehicle seats and carpet it will wick in a little while and all turn brown and what about a chemical reaction to the kids of the vehicle. A2Z to clean seats??????????????????

If you could not do the job correct it should have NEVER been DONE !!!!!!!

Hey, it was a little unorthodox, but with the condition of that vehicle before he started, I don't think he could have possibly screwed it up worse. He could have smeared Snickers bars on the seats and it probably would have been an improvement.

Even you know that it was wrong [UNORTHODOX]. If we are here to teach the proper way then that's what we DO.

EACH ONE TEACH ONE

Aren't you being a little too critical? A2Z is non acidic which means thats it probably basic. Two ounces of that to a lets say a 24oz spray bottle would make it a 12:1 ratio. Thats pretty weak. Also some people here use Castrol Super clean APC which is a highly basic product. If you don't try it then you won't know how it works. Let me give you an analogy. If Columbus didn't say the earth was round and followed what the belief was back then, then do you think that this great country would be in existance or what it is today? Sorry for saying all that but I think any good quality detailer on this site won't do anything to endanger their customers health and since the original poster has over 1000 posts then I'm sure he must have some credentials. BTW great job on the detail.

unorthodox- def. not following, or resulting from a failure to follow, conventional or traditional beliefs or practices (MSN Encarta)

Nothing in the definition that defines or implies that it is wrong.

as much as i love seeing a swirled up paint job come out shining like new,

i must say, i love seeing the "nasty" interior pics and then the miraculous outcomes, great job :bounce

Thank you all for the kind replies.:)

Why would endager the welfare of my customer's and their children (hence a minivan)? I've been detailing "professionally" for two years now. Two years is not alot of years, but I credit the depth of my knowledge to the tons and tons of vehicles (alot even worse than the minivan on this thread) I have serviced, learning from other pro's, studying manuals & guides, trial and error, and not to mention the knowledge I've gain right here on Autopia. I also was raised to have a great deal of common sense. Do not mistaken me for a rookie getting his feet wet throwing up some weird solutions to speed through a detail, charge some cheap rate, and go home and eat some McDonalds.

To better clarify, I used a very small portion (take the cap of a regular size QEW bottle and times that by two...I did not use that cap, just saying that to give you an idea of the amount) of A2Z mixed in with about 3-4 gallons of water along with Woolite. 95% of the solution was Woolite. 3% was the sweat dripping off my face from scrubbing so hard:p , and the rest was a little A2Z to kick it up a notch to handle those pesky stains. I used a 5 horsepower vac to extract the solution out of the upholstery and the carpets as much as I could to nearly dry. Yes, a 5 horsepower vac is not that powerful, but it does help in getting the job done. Majority of the solution was used on the doorjambs and vinyl areas, not the carpet and upholstery. Therefore, when extracted, the carpets and upholstery were basically dry. I've used this exact solution many times over and never had a problem (carpets stiffining, browning, staining, etc.). I know this for sure as I have returned to majority of every detail I've done to work on the car and I do not see evidence of the above mentioned problems, and yes, I do know how to check for these problems. Those problems will become evident when you incorporate too much solution (soap, detergents, chemicals, etc.) in the carpet or upholstery and then do not extract at all or not enough.

When you are a small detailer like myself, you do not currently (but eventually) have the means to purchase $1,000 extractors more or less, etc., etc., and many of the other powerful tools, equipment, etc. I'm not knocking the equipment or anyone who uses the equipment, I'm actually working my tail off to be able to get that equipment to make my job more quicker. The same thing with the PC. I used to do everything by hand and it took forever, but once I was able to purchase the PC, my hands went on retirement. I have to improvise, adapt, and overcome so that I may provide not just a convenient, high quality, mobile service, but also to more importantly make sure I'm doing my job right. It would never cross my mind in a million years to do hack work on a customer's vehicle that they are paying me their hard earned money to do. There are several detailer's right here on this board who produce magnificent work and get praises from here to everywhere, and they are in the same class I am in as far as our setup to run our businesses. With all the hard work, studying, and building of some serious passion for high quality auto care servicing I have done, I will with out a doubt find it insulting for someone to criticize my efforts to the point it will portray me as a hack.

Thank you all again for your kind words , I really appreciate it.

:wavey

BTW, this service was a birthday present from the customer to his wife...she was almost in tears after the work was done. That type of response is what I crave every time I work!:xyxthumbs

I only use fragrance per customer's request. The fragrance I used is an aromatherapy fragrance from Ardex. I usually don't use fragrance, but keep it on hand just in case the customer wants it used.

How much money did you find? :D

These mini vans can sometimes contain small fortunes. The owners can be surprised when they get a cash refund waiting for them in the cup or coin holders when I am done.

I set a new sort of record last week. I found a nearly new roll of postage stamps way under the seat. About 12 stamps at $.37 a pop = $4.44 :shocked

I am sure he was happy to see his unexpected discount. LOL

 There was ALOT of change I found...along with enough food and candy to stock a grocery!!:shocked

Nice work. I've never heard of A2Z being used on the interior -- I guess I would've been afraid of it. Good to know though.

What kind of fragrance goes good with or over powers the nasty (in my opinion) woolite smell?

 You are the first person I've heard who doesn't like the scent of Woolite. Has a clean smell to me. Oh well, I'm probably the only person who doesn't particularly like the smell of Meguiars #40. :p

AJ-terrific job on that nasty interior. Good thing it was an Odyssey instead of a late 90's Suburban so you had good quality carpet to deal with.

Oh man that smell really bothers me. Especially in the smaller spaces like the inerior of a car for example :D

:nixweiss ive always been told I am weird.

Awesome work AJ. I have an extractor and cant get jobs done as well as that one. It is not heated, but has a lot of lift.

-Scottabir,

How about the Mazda6 challenge again? I have been really busy and as you can see by my post count that I havent been on here very much. I just had some film developed and the pics came out really bad. Going back to get them fixed at no charge.

hmmmm I gotta find a weekend that I have off coming up. I am looking at 10-12 hrs at work on Sat. and 8-10 on Sunday...for the next month or so.

Sounds good. The GF's Mazda6S will be getting a detail in the next week or so. I am waiting on PB's SSR2.5 right now so it might be a while for me also.
