wool washmit...shedding

while washing my cartoday i noticed that my wool wash mit that i just got shed alota fur!! it went everywere? Have any of you had this happend to you?
 
There are a lot of wool mitts on the market and the quality varies alot. My advice is you switch to an ultra microfibre wash mitt. Just got my first one a few weeks ago and it's amazing. Wool is something I don't like in detailing, IMO it's days are numbered, including pads for rotary's
 
I prefer wool wash mitts to microfiber mitts because the microfiber will trap anything easily. It may be nice since you don't have the problem of linting perhaps but for me I feel 'safer' using the old school mitt.
 
They all shed, no matter what ya do. Personally, when you see the hide is getting not as plush, I would toss it or leave it for engine or wheel duty. Mf mitts are good for cars that are basically clean already, not heavy grime or cars that have n't been washed in a few weeks!!!!!
 
Wow, I have chenille mitts shed like mad, makes the sheepskin ones seem tame, the lint catcher in the dryer is a nighmare afterwards :eek: The chenilles don't get used on "good" cars.
 
I don't have any problems with my wool mitt but I have major problems with my cotton chenille mitt. It leaves fragments all over my black rubber....YUCK! Actually, I noticed that it doesn't do it on new cars that have nice slick moldings, but beware when a care has older moldings.
 
LOL, Bill D. You and I were thinking the exact same thing at the exact same moment. I agree with you. My wool mitt is for my personal cars or a customer's car that just needs a freshening up but when a car is real dirty I pull out the chenille and let her rip!
 
I got mine at exceldetail with all m MF towels except the CBT. It was a couple bucks cheaper than autopia thats why i got it. And this is only my first time using it
 
Well, I bought two wool wash (at the same time) mitts from a popular online vendor.



One of them was EXTREMELY soft, didnt shed, the wool laid very flat, and I liked it a lot.

The other one wasnt so soft, shed, and wasnt as nice over all.



So, it could just be a variation in the hides. :nixweiss
 
Hmm..I haven't had shedding from my Eurow ones, in fact I still have the first one I ever bought, use it for dry wheel dusting. I'm, probably unusually, extremely lucky. I do spend quite a long time when I see them in the store picking them out.
 
Hmm..that's interesting, I just pick them out based on which are most soft, the no shedding happened to be luck. Guess I ought to pick the softest of the darkest then huh? Sounds more involved than picking fruits and vegetables :D

Hmmmm, I have had problems with my wool mitt shedding all over my black car - so to remedy this I did a bit of reading and came to the conclusion that the chenille mitt would probably be better so I bought 4 of them! But after reading this, now I'm not so sure...
