wool pad

I just started using 6.5"PFW on my last detail but I think I used a wrong backing plate, the same backing plate as I use for 5.5in foam.

-should I use the one given with makita rotary?

Also I thinking about using wool pads,

-how good are the two wool pads that comes with makita?

-what s the difference between the two?

-if they aren't good which one should I go with?

steel wool pads are okay for the tires but they will scratch the paint. use only 100% coton beech towels on the paint to void scratches.

??????What are you talking about? Steel wool pads are for scrubbing pots. Beach towels for paint to avoid scratches?????:soscared:

hahaha that was a funny post. but i'm more than certain he was referring to lambswool pads or foamwool pads. i really like beach towels on my skin but not my cars paint.

I didn't understand that reply neither!

I used PWF too and saw your video (nice!)

I am trying to get more info on which wool pads are good I know presta, 3 m, Edge but I am confused by all the models and how they compare to foam. which ones should I get to have more bite then PWF?

The PFW has a pretty decent amount of cut, especially if you are using a compound like Meguiars 95 or 105. However, if you are certain you need more cut, you may want to try Edge's Yellow wool pad. If that is not enough Edge makes a Black wool pad but you REALLY need to be careful with that pad, it has some VERY agressive cut to it.

When it comes to Edge, the agressiveness goes in this order for both foam and wool:

White - very light finishing pad, similar to Lake Country Blue and Red Foam Pad

Blue - finishing pad, similar to Lake Country Black Foam Pad

Green - polishing pad, similar to Lake Country White Foam Pad

Yellow - cutting pad, similar to Lake Country Orange Foam Pad

Black - heavy cutting pad, similar to Lake Country Yellow Foam Pad

When looking at LC's PFW, it falls between the Green and Yellow Edge pads but a little closer to the Yellow. Does any of this make sense?
