Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating Review

Excellent work OP! Can't wait to hear about its durability.

The new 2016 formula optimum gloss coat, good for three years, and supposedly the easiest of all coatings to apply at $60 ... Should be an interesting competitor. I can see why WG released this product now. Good move, but Dr G never sleeps.

Are you saying the WG coating is an updated Optimum GC? Because I asked Mike Phillips the day it was released if it was developed by Optimum or relabeled GC. He was very open and upfront about how it wasn't a relabeled product. I also believe Nick at AG was the developer for this product and referred to it as his "baby".

It's definitely made for WG by OPT, not saying it's the same as GC though.

Why is that? Are you basing that assumption purely on the speculation of the container being the same? Or do you know something we don't? Please tell me because I am honestly asking and would like to know.

I would think PBMG would be upfront about it if it was. The only reason I say that is because they have been upfront about the Blackfire SRC twins being developed by Menzerna. So why they wouldn't be now just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

It's definitely not made for Wolfgang by Optimum. Just because it's packaged in a syringe, does not mean Optimum is the manufacturer. PBMG has a very strong relationship with Optimum, and Dr. G is a close friend of mine. Out of respect (something not often found on internet discussion forums where people like to spread rumors and speculate), I asked him if he would be okay with Wolfgang using a syringe for our coating. Obviously he said yes.

Other than the obvious, it was posted in the Opt FB group by an Opt distributior. Don't understand why this needs to be so hush hush with threads/posts being deleted or edited.

We're familiar with that Facebook post made by the Optimum distributor in Canada, and it was removed by Optimum because it is not accurate. Neither Wolfgang or Optimum (or any other company for that matter) appreciates it when false information is posted. The comment was made by a distributor of Optimum products, and not Optimum themselves. Wolfgang consulted with Optimum on this project for the syringe packaging. That's where the misunderstanding was.

This was something we knew people would assume, because Optimum was the only company that utilized a syringe for their coating. Wolfgang doesn't even use the same syringe, either. The tip and dispenser are also different.

There hasn't been a single thread or post deleted on AGO or Autopia.org regarding the two products being compared. Notice how your posts are still there? No need to rustle the feathers.

Moving forward...great review! :)

Thank you for the clarification. I was referring to the FB post being deleted and I believe and AGO posted was edited, but can't be 100% certain.

I will clarify further - There hasn't been a single thread or post deleted or edited on AGO or Autopia.org regarding the two products being compared.

Update:

It has been about a month and a half since I did the coating. I daily drive it. I just went two weeks without touching it. In those two weeks it has sat in the parking lot at work Mon-Friday 8-10 hours daily with construction just outside the parking lot where they are putting a new drainage ditch in and have the entrance tore up so it is a dirt road plus the dirt and dust from the air with that construction, rained three times (beading still like day one), and I drove it round trip to Florida. Washed it yesterday. It was too dirty for a rinseless wash. Knocked all the gunk off with the hose, soaked it with the foam gun using Wolfgang auto bath, hosed that off, soaked it again with the foam gun and then washed with a whole bucket full of MF. This was the fourth "wash" since coating. Two with WG rinseless and two with WG autobath. By far this last one was the dirtiest the car has been since I have owned it. Wash was a breeze. Dried with a leaf blower and looks just like it did when I put the coating on. Went over entire car with an LED light to verify. I am a believer now.

Yes Sir! Now I do fun stuff Sat morning instead of washing and Zaino. C&C this morning.

Awesome. That's what a coating is all about. Maintenance suddenly becomes MUCH easier after a quality surface coating is applied. Love the blue color on your stingray.

Nice. I always like blue but blue is not very common around here on 'vettes.

I have only seen a few out in the wild. I'm transferring back to Jacksonville in a few months. Used to go to Raleigh Cars and Coffee last time I was there and got my GTO tuned in Raleigh also.

Jacksonville is only a few hours from here. If you can get the time, maybe you can get to Detail Fest.
