Wiper fluid

I tried to search, but search seems to be down. Plus, I figure someone will help out.

What do you put in your wiper fluid that will help out getting the crap off the window when needed, but not take off my polish or make extra work for me the next time I wash the car?

I don't drive the car in the rain much A) California B) Take other car if known rain that day, but I do get surprised from time to time.

Thoughts?

Well you could dilute it with water, i would never add anything else to the solution.

If you do need to use the wiper fluid, carry some QD in your car so when it stops raining you can wipe it down right away.

P21S makes a Wash Booster that you can get from CMA. Now, I haven't used it and haven't seen any threads on it, so I can't vouch for how good it is, and if it has any detrimental effects on the wipers longevity.

I've used the P21S wash booster. if you put too much in, it'll streak the roof line and foam up.

I guess it works OK...Use it extra strength on my truck and SUV...It does a good job on bug guts. I dunno if I'd buy it again, though.

Sorry, I meant 'add to the water in the fluid container'. I don't have anything but water in there now, but obviously doesn't always do the best job...

what kind of water do you use in your fluid resevoir? I find that using distilled water does alot better job than tap water ever could do...:xyxthumbs

jnstella, I asked this question once too - if the alcohol in windshield washer fluid would strip off wax. Even a couple more knowledgable members gave me a :nixweiss and said that was a good question. I just try to use it as little as possible, or do it while stopped so it just runs down into the cowl rather than up over the hood.

Has anyone tried this? Chemac Windshield Road Film Remover I've seen this stuff up here for pretty cheap.

I pulled out the windshield washer fluid hoses and reservoir because i never use it or the wipers either.I applied 3M gloss enhancer on the windscreen and ever since then the windscreen beads up heaps. Saves on wiper blade replacement.

I used the washer once and the water in the reservoir screwed up the paint on the bonnet.

Left white water spots which didn't come out for months. Luckily though it did and i have had to respray the bonnet anyway due to kangaroo damage.

Wow.

That is my new mantra when I get :angry . "Life could be worse...I could have kangaroo damage on my bonnet."

'Roos in Oz are like deer, moose and elk in North America. So unless my guess is wrong, SVR hit one at highway speeds.

BTW, I am not from Oz, but have lots of friends who tell me horrendous stories of big reds leaping across the road and getting hit in mid-air!

4 kangaroos hit the front bumper at 80km/h (140mph) and luckily only took off paint. Then 1 jumped up on the car with it doing 110km/h and smacked it's head on the bonnet putting a fist sized dent on the front.

i put too much p21s washer booster in my car and it streaked, and left a white residue all over my car panels.........oops. learn and live.:D

it sat on my car for a day as i parked the car and did not drive it the following. but i took a MF and #34 and it came right off....its almost like soap residue. i just added more agua to change the ratio that i messed up in the first place....

303 products makes a tablet to add to water to make wiper fluid that is "engineered to be safe for rubber and paint". I have been using it for over a year and it works great for me. I got it free as part of a free sample kit that I got from 303 by paying $5 shipping and got samples of like 4 different products. I personally like all of the 303 products.
