Wiper blades

How do you guys clean your wiper blades? I just clean then with the car wash and I dry them off. When i run a clean towel across them they don't leave streaks of dirt so I assume they are clean, then I rub a little 303 on them. However when it rains they bleed black and streak the the windshield! :(



any tips? suggestions?

they are wiper blades. I dont think they require cleaning....unless im polishing and i get splatter on them..yeah thats a total pain in the arsh haha.
 
I think they require cleaning unless it like rains everyday where you live. But i would imagine road contaminants get into the wipers when they aren't in use.
 
Yes, a lot of the wiper manufacturers including Bosch tell you to clean them with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or cloth.



I have always done it this way and have had no problems. Wipe it back and forth on the blade until the black crud stops coming off, or at least comes off a lot less than it did. 2-3 passes is good.
 
You can use APC to wipe them down, as well. I'm not sure I would use 303 on them, unless I wiped them down well after. 303 makes a specific product for wiper blades, and I've not been too impressed with that, either. Could be time for new wiper blades, too. I think the Tripl-Edge at Wal-Mart are the best deal.
 
Rubbing alcohol? Wow. That is sure to dry them up lickity split, shortening their life span. No wonder manufacturers recommend it. :har:
 
They are rubber, yes if you want them to last longer---303 or a dressing will help.

The color run is the dye in the blade, not all rubber is naturally black. No biggie, as long as the blade is functional.



BTW i would never use pure alcohol/wipepads on my blades. My current blades are 2 years old, and look & function like new.
 
I wipe them down with window cleaner or rubbing alcohol. I'm still on my original blades from my 2006 Civic. They are just starting to streak. Still quiet though
 
I cleaned it by wiping it on a cloth with a QD then dressed with 303. Today it rained very hard and they did not bleed black. Though the rear wiper did, I'm going to give it the same treatment see what happens :)
 
I wipe them off with the ONR wash water I'm using to wash the car with. Gets the bugs and dirt off, that's all that's needed.
