Winter Wash and Wax

Global Warming* continues and gives opportunity to emerge from the garage and do an outside wash and wax.

Comments:
Nice day to work outside.
Check out the Tacoma's bumper I recently corrected with Meg's UC/UP.
BFDGSS is awesome...super glossy and super slick with minimal product. Application is not only easy, but super fast and works well at 50 degrees.
Electric Leaf Blower (vs. gas blower) works great. No nauseous fumes.
DG 105/601 takes some elbow grease to remove in this colder air temp.
LATA works great removing old tire product. And it's cheap.
Green finger mitt is perfect for applying Opti Seal to wheels.

Thanks mjlinane...

I have DG base on the Audi and C845 base on the Tacoma. The Odyssey had an older C845 base and the water wasn't flying off it like I wanted to when drying with the leaf blower. So I went ahead and applied DG 105/601 on it. Now everyone is set for the snow...if it ever comes.

They look good. I have 845 on my dd truck, so ill see how long it lasts with touchless washes. 3-5 inches of snow on the way here tomorrow.

i never was a big proponent of the spray on sealants/ waxes, but the older i get , the more i like them. they can really extended the life of a good detail. the blackfire deep gloss spray sealant definitely gets my vote !

may not last as long, but when u can do the whole car and get that gloss and slickness, gotta love it. hear opti car wax has some longer durability. i play with products enough that durability is not much of an issue.

the bfdgss gloss is mezmerizing.

Wow your sure were busy two cars and a truck banged out. The front bumper looks great in the pics;)

yeah. spent the day outside. one of the nicest winter days yet. hoping for more.

thanks re: bumper. it is now closer to the condition of the paint in that its glossy and, except for the residual pocks and scars, fairly smooth. until now, didnt know you could work plastic like paint. you guys here helped me on that. :bigups

You have to be a little bit easier on painted bumpers but not that much, you can still get pretty agressive with them as far as compounding and polishing goes.

How sore is your lower back and shoulders? Haha looks great though. Have you done the 601/105 combo on the pad before?

wow, good thing you did rinseless washes. Probably saved yourself a good 1.5 hours doing those 3 vehicles.

rinseless goes pretty fast now that i have a routine. having a good LSP makes a huge difference. rinseless and soilage just glide off. no need to do windows with a dedicated cleaner.audi and tacoma were wuick rinseless and spray wax. did not touch the interiors.

good workout for sure.

i have done 501-105/601 before on the audi. heard it holds up in touchless wash. wanna be prepared for that should the weather dictate.

Awesome, that's good to hear. Did you do your first application of 601/105 on the car separately or have you always done the combo on the pad? I want to see if I can save some time haha

Seems most everyone using the 601/501,105,111 combo are doing it mixed at the same time. It was actually recommended by Dura Gloss. 1:4 mixture

I've read on some brief searches that 601 is applied first, allowed to haze, and then 105 is applied over. These threads were all pretty old though so maybe the formula has changed? Thanks for the info though, I'll definitely do the pad combo.

It is still the way it is advertised to be used. But a respected member over at AG and does some testing for them (Richy)has a relationship with the guy at DG and that is were the combo came from and everyone that has tried it has liked it.
