Winter Protection Questions

OK, I have 4 vehicles that I have to get ready for winter in the next couple months that sit outside and have a couple questions. I use Zaino on one of them, so another coat of Z2/Z5 and another coat of Z-CS should take care of that. The other vehicles have top coats of either OS or EX-P. On the other 3, I'm thinking about applying another coat of sealant and then a good wax. What would your suggestion for wax be to get through the PA winter. I was looking at CG 50/50, Petes, Natty's, collinite, Pinnacle Souveran and Pinnacle Signature..

Thanks

Collinite 476S is the best bet for a winter wax, IMO. Meg's #16 is good too, if you can get your hands on any. I'm not sure about the CG's waxes, but the Natty's and Pinnacles are beauty waxes and won't hold up thru the winter.

Last winter I found the 845 IW to not hold up as long as 476S or #16.

Same here (had 845 and 476S on adjacent panels of the Blazer, had #16 on my wife's car).

476S is the best durability-wise. Get four coats or so on there and it'll be well-protected all winter.

Anyone know if a few coats of polycharged AJ would hold up as well as 476s ?

I can't compare it to Collinite 476 or with Polycharger ... but Prime Strong and 2 coats of AJ got me through last winter just fine with periodic washing/QD's. I found it quite durable.

How about some Duragloss 105 with an occasional QD of Duragloss AW when convenient over the winter. Inexpensive looks good and lasts a fair amount of time from others reviews. That's going to be my method for my 4 vehicles that sit out 24/7 this winter. The AW can be found over the counter at Car Quest but I've yet to be able to find the 105 over the counter.

Some have mentioned putting Duragloss 105, and then topping with Collinite. I might try a half and half over the winter.. Half Duragloss 105+Collinite 476S, half Collinite 476S.

edit: On a second thought, that would be a pretty bad comparison.. The Duragloss+Collinite combo is almost sure to have more durability than just Collinite. Maybe I'll do Duragloss105x3 vs. Collinite 476Sx3.

I have used DG105 topped with the Collinite 915 and also the 855 Fleetwax...and they both did great thru the winter....I have not used 476s so can not comment on it...but the 2 I used with 105 held up great from Oct...till early May...I used AW when I could during the winter after a self serve wash.....I bring my own stuff at night and bucket wash and just use the rinse water....

But the 105x2 and either 915 or 855 x2 worked fine.....
