Winter Prep: Collinite 476s For My BMW 2006 M6!

Hello guys,

Well I am getting ready by ordering Collinite 476s and Z-8's and Z-6's 2 bottles each

for zaino as will be using them between washes.

I am sort of confused on what to start with each of our cars

BMW M6

Brand New 2006 X5

The M6 is black and has near perfect paint with little Swirls here and there

So I was thinking of claying with Sonus Ultra Poly Clay since the paint doesn’t

need harsher clay,

Then I want to use a Filler to fill those swirl marks, I have huge supplies of products

but the once filler I know I have is

Z-5 PRO Show Car Polish for Swirl Marks and Fine Scratches

Toping that with Pink Moose "RMG & VM Mix"

And then Collinite 476s, waiting a week to apply second coat or maybe same day.

Should I use Z-8 After Z-5 Pro to hold the filler in so Pink Moose won't remove Z-5?

Also Not sure if Collinite 476S will bound with RMG as it has allot of oils in it?

Thanks for your help and Advice!

Some pictures after My last detail! :2thumbs:

VM/RMG is very oily and will strip the Z. Do you have a PC? If I were you, I would do Z5 Pro times however many to fill the swirls, and top it with the 476s. Or you could just do Z5 Pro for the winter, which should be enough to get you through.

Alot of people have never had any bonding issues with RMG in general - you'll get opinions on this, but i cant personally speak for Z products but the Collinite should bond nicely.

:werd: Z5 Pro should have no trouble through the winter.

You can top with Collinite if you'd like, but I'd leave the glaze out.

It is werd,

Z-5 is a polish not wax nor it is a sealant, it is a filler that needs to be toped.

unless I will use the accelator ZFX it is called I think? anyways I don't like this

process unless I top Z-5 / ZFX Mix with a sealant.

Although Z-5 has filling properties it is very durable even on its own.....

The best Combo IMO would be Z5p w/ ZFX and a few coats of Z2p

This is not correct. Z5 Pro is a sealant with slight filling properties (despite being named a "polish"). It offers very good durability on it's own.

Z5 Pro is a sealant, just like Z2 or SG or Acrylic Jett etc. Zaino just uses the polish term to confuse people. Polishes abrate paint away either chemically or with abrasives. Z5 Pro looks great on black.

:secret it can be used on its own.

Ops Thanks for the correction guys

So what up with the Zaino people are they on crack?!

I mean they don't have any sealant except Z8 Spray

Why wouldn't they call Z-5 a sealant?

Anyways what do you guys think if I use Z5 Mix in the ZFX bottle and liquid

and toping those off with a Collinite 476s?

Will I get better durability and will the last for winter after using this process

and using Z8 spray every week after a wash?

Zaino seems so confusing to me, I'll chime in and say this, while my GF was at a baby shower I QD'd her nasty hood and took a piece of tape down the middle and used color x to clean it up, then one side with collinite the other just left at color x...its been like a month and of course this thing never gets washed she works on a beach with salt air, parks under trees and I laugh everytime I come over after it rains because the collinite is still beading and the rest of the car looks like a sheen of dirt on it, like the car is painted with matte spray paint but half the hood is blazing green lol so if I had to deal with winters I'd go collinite poor cars and snow.

As mentioned before, Z5 Pro and Z2 Pro are sealants. Z8 is a spray sealant (think "booster").

It's likely that Z5 Pro alone would last the winter, but if you feel like topping it with Collinite, go ahead.

Z2Pro, Z5Pro, and Z8 are all sealers.

If you're planning to use the Zaino system, then I would recommend the following:

-Wash (Dawn -if you have existing protection on the finish, which it looks like you do)

-Clay

-Polish. ZP-C, AIO, Menzerna, 3M all work well. If your paint is defect free (or as close as you want it), I would recommend using ZPC because it bonds the best with Z2/5 Pro.

-If you polish with anything other than ZP-C, Z6 wipe the paint to remove the excess/oils.

-Z5Pro(zfx'd) x 2 to ensure 100% coverage. (I say Z5Pro because it looks KILLER on black paint)

-Maintain with Z7 wash & Z8 (spray sealer: 1 trigger pull/mist per 3' x 3' area).

This will protect your fine looking BMW over the winter -no questions about it.

IMO you are defeating many of the benefits of Zaino if you top with a carnuba. The silicones/oils in carnuba will attract dust, induce marring, etc... ALL of which Z5Pro and/or Z2Pro WILL NOT.

Give it a shot. I think you'll be a very happy 'black paint' owner.

I know that I am.

Thanks for the info guys and advices!

One thing thought while reading on the ZFX, here is a quote from their site "Zaino Store"

ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive should be used with Zaino Show Car Polish (Z-2 or Z-5, Z-3 for non clear coated) twice a year on an everyday car and once a year on a show car. Also, please reapply ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive after every ten coats of Zaino Show Car Polish (Z-2 or Z-5, Z-3 for non clear coated). ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive will never remove Zaino. Also the NEW ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive is an incredible product and could be used as often as you like... it's up to you. It will tighten up and strengthen the polish system and increase the gloss.

They are saying use it on non clear coated finishes???!!!

Looks like I am going to go with Zaino process for the M6,

I am thinking

FPII -White Pad on the PC

Z-5 / ZFX X2 What pad to use? Finishing pad or White cleaning Pad?

And then Z-2 / ZFX X1 Sonus Blue Finishing pad unless I have some of OC finishing

pad lift over :think2

How does this sound?

Also after each removal of polish Will use Z-6? or should I Remove the polish with

mist of Z-6? or use my Z-8 instead of Z-6 or both ? :nixweiss

You're really making this sooo much harder than it needs to be. If you feel like using Z6 or Z8 to remove the sealant, go for it, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Sealants should be applied with a finishing pad *if* you apply them via PC.

I am trying to achieve the best possible results here, and this is not just a car either;

so I want as much info from the experts as possible. And yes I will be using a PC for

the process but my question is not answered yet.

Should I use cleaning Pad or finishing pad for the filler in Z-5 to work?

Slightly OT, but my dad just picked up a 650 convertible in the same color. I recently clayed it, polished with Clearkote RMG, and then waxed it with DP Max Wax and it came out looking REALLY nice. DP Max Wax won't get you through the winter, but it's something to think about for next spring. ;)

Also, are you seriously going to drive your M6 during the winter? I don't know where you're located, but if I drove a car like that during the winter here I would be off the road in a ditch instantly. If you're not driving it then durability of LSP shouldn't really be an issue.
