Winter driving damage

Ok, I have been lurking on this forum for months. I have a strong interest in detailing and work really hard (using tips from this site) to maintain my 04' Nissan Titan Crew Cab in pristine condition.

I travel 3,000 per month for my job and I have to deal weekly with bugs, rocks, road grime, ect. from all of the highway miles. On a recent trip I ran into a closed highway (ice, accidents) I waited for the road to re-open along with at least 50 tractor trailers and other cars. When the road re-opened we all started down the highway at the same time. They had laid down a serious coat of salt and sand for at least 50 miles. I was stuck behind trucks for most of it. Needless to say I was pelted with sand and salt.

Result: Windshield pitted to the point of replacement, front bumper pitted, hood pitted, front of top pitted, plastic chrome on mirrors pitted, plastic chrome on front facia pitted, headlight covers pitted This is a black truck so each pit shows white on the surface.

Now the question: What do I do now? Repaint?, touchup paint? :ticked

First Welcome to posting and out of lurking:naughty

Second if there is that much pitting on a new truck, you might want to call your insurance company and explain the situation. Repainting and replacement of the plastic parts is the only way it will look new again...touch up for what you are describing will not look very good on a black truck.
Good luck to you...

I feel your pain BlackTitan!:boohoo A few years ago, I suffered some damage, but not close to yours.

In a situation like that it may be best to slow down and make space, or pull over until the big bad trucks are out of harm's way. An extra few minutes tacked onto a drive are sometimes better than the risk of damage that "fanatics" like us go crazy over. :crazy I know it's after the fact, but hopefully you can avoid the situation the next time.

Poorboy is right on with his comments.:bigups I hope everything works out for you.

I love Titans , sorry to hear about your misfortune. I'm w/calling your insurance and at least explain and see what they can do. If you want a fast temporary fix for paint chips, get a black Sharpie marker and color in the chips. Its works alot better than touch up paint in my opinion ..Good Luck
