A local VW owner contacted me last week about cleaning up this car before he tries to sell it.

Process

Wash/clay

-Two bucket wash

-DP Extreme Auto foam/Dawn mix via AG Foam cannon

-Pinnacle Clay bar

Wheels/Tires

-Various Brushes w/ P21s Wheel Gel

-Optimum Optibond tire gel

Correction

-PCXP 7424

-Megs 105 w/ LC Orange pad

-Megs 205 w/ LC White pad

LSP

-Klasse High Gloss sealant

-DoDo Juice Purple Haze

All exterior textured trim received some Black WoW

Total Time: 14 Hrs..

I didnt have my camera for this entire detail so I didnt take any pics before the wash. Here are a few pics showing the condition of the paint after the wash and clay. As you can see the finish was pretty hammered with plenty of spider swirls and holograms.

Here is a decent sun shot of the Rear quarter panel and rear door, as you can see the finish is very dull and has a decent amount of swirls and holo's.

006.jpg

The entire car's finish was just dull and lacking luster.

025.jpg

Not to mention that the roof was extremely oxidized.

062.jpg

As was the trunk lid.

002.jpg

After testing a small spot on the hood I decided that 2 passes with m105 on an LC Orange pad followed by 2 passes of m205 on a LC White pad would do the trick as usual.

Here is the rear quarter panel after 2 passes of M105 on an Orange LC pad. As you can see we have made huge improvements and removed almost all imperfections.

A semi 50/50 shot of this area

Now moving on to the lower portion, dont worry I went back and hit all the crevices.

Before

014.jpg

After one pass with M105 on Orange LC.

015.jpg

017.jpg

I then followed up after this shot with another pass of m105 on orange and 2 more passes with m205 on white. I followed this process for the entire car.

Finally some gloss was restored.

021.jpg

Now on the the roof. Which was extremely oxidized. It required 2 passes with a LC Yellow foamed wool w/ m105 and followed by the LC Orange on 105 for 1 pass and 3 passes with m205 on white.

Before

062.jpg

50/50

After

Since I didnt have my camera the entire detail I appoligize for the lack shots of other panels and of the full car. I however did have the camera the night I finished and below will show some shots of the correction using different lighting and before LSP

099.jpg

Camera flash and a handheld shop light

106.jpg

101.jpg

097.jpg

Now on to the afters. These are after the Klasse High gloss sealant and a coat of DoDo Juice Purple haze. I would have to say that i absolutly hate removing Klasse but i believe the results are worth the effort. The Dodo Juice was extremely easy to remove.

Again sorry for the lack of pictures and the sun was moving fast when I got home so I didnt get many after sun shots.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy!

What machine were you using in conjunction with the Yelllow Wool on the roof? One could only assume some sort of circular polisher. :kewlpics

All correction was done with the PCXP 7424

Even with the wool. That's pretty snazzy. (I personally won't use wool with anything but a rotary, but that's me)

I love that color and that generation of VW. My first VW was a MKIII (3rd gen like this one) but in uni-black. Talk about difficult to keep looking nice.

WTF??? You should probably be dressed when taking your "after" pics.

LOL. This made me laugh. Reminds me of that guy that sold the tea kettle on ebay but you can see his reflection in it. Totally nude.

:har:

That is sick. Read into that what you will.

I have never seen a car shiny enough to see someone's junk in it.

BTW Great job on the car.

I 100% had cloths on in every pic. all that one pic shows is my hand with a towel in it holding the light and the camera in the other hand.

Thanks for the comments guys!

so the scratches in the trunk came out or marring and oxidation? Got any other photo's of the trunk in the sun? Curious how well that really turned out.

Nice work though, the blue is really deep with tons of reflection now.

All came out. The oxidation is gone. Aswell as the marring. Some of the deeper scratches remain and would have needed a wet sand to totally remove them. The owner is picking the car up tomorrow hopefully I can sneak in a sun shot of it before he picks it up. More came out than expected to be honest. Thanks for the comments.
