Well after talking to a few of my friends and family I decided to upgrade one of my backup computers. I must say much better than the vista and everything seens to be running faster. Has anyone else migrated to the new operating system.:bigups

Yes sir. I've using the beta and the RC version since they came out. Much improvement over Vista, a lot quicker and more fluid. Not as many pop up boxes always asking you to approve something.

I've actually been using it more than my old iBook :wow:

Local TV station reported todays news that Microsoft 7 was causing problems and Microsoft was working on the bugs.

I make a point of never buying anything until it has been on the market for a year.

I'm happy to allow others to be the first to have the latest it saves me a lot of headaches. :)

I've got two copies on the way.. I got them half price on the pre-sale and I don't have to put them in right away.... they will not re-release anything but patch it...

anyways I heard of people usinging it on some VERY VERY old computer as it runs great on minamal resorces

Same here. My old laptop finally died so I plan to buy a new one but I think I will give it some time and let the bugs come to the surface first.

I'm an IT guy and have been running the release for 3 months and it runs flawlessly . I have it on several units.Startup and shutdown is fantastic. It doesnot tax your processing power as Vista did. It is what Vista really should have been. I really like it .

hAVE BEEN VERY SCARED BY VISTA. PURCHASED VISTA BUSINESS 64 BIT FOR HOME COMPUTER ON A QUAD CORE LENOVO. MACHINE IS SO HANDICAPPED WITH VISTA I ACTUALL HAVE 2 COMPUTERS ON MY DESK. I USE THE LENOVO FOR OUTLOOK AND THE APPLE FOR BASICALLY EVEERYTHING ELSE. I FEEL SO SCREWED BY MICROSOFT THAT I WOULD NEED A FREE VERSION OF WINDOWS 7 TO TRY IT.

I HAVE BEEN THRIE BETA TESTER (NOT BY CHOICE)FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS STRUGGLING WITH VISTA. IT WAS EXPENSIVE AND NOT WOERTH IT AT ALL. XP BLOWS IT AWAY 1000000000% OR MORE!

And that's how I feel!

I feel much better now

I'm just "bumping" this post to keep it active, hopping more info will come forth

I'm not much of a computer guru, don't use it for high end gaming, just E-mails and surfing. I have crashed more computers than i'd like to admit and out of all the operating systems i've gone through i still liked the Windows XP pro format.. and yes I some how managed to kill that a few times to, as far as vista goes, it has been a stable environment but slooow for today's standards and the olny problem I have had with it was it did not like one of the up-dates, but fix was easy...

if theirs any pro's and con's out there on Windows 7 I'd like to read them.

Thanks

One of my friends was thinking of getting a new computer, his is about 3 years old and he uses a lot of graphics programs. So far he is giving it two thumbs up, he says its like having a new computer. We installed the windows 7 64 bit. I'm gonna install it in a pentium 3 computer in a few days to see how it goes.

I decided 5 years ago to buy an apple power book. It is one of my best purchases that i have ever made.

I am on my first Apple laptop. Hmmm..it is about two days... I hope that I will be saying the same thing .

My wife has complained from the onset about vista and has been of late downloading Windows 7 to many of her devices.

Just did a Sony vaio laptop last night, i have to say its definately faster. Everything is running fine.

Doing a dell vostro laptop today going from xp to vista and to windows 7. I'm crossing my fingers.

My desktop is an eMachines, slow, basic, simple, but enough for what I do. It runs XP Home. If I want to upgrade this system to 7, I can either spend $200 for a retail version or $109 for an OEM, and buy a new hard drive to install it. That ties it to the motherboard. I don't want to do that. So I think this will become the kid's computer and I'll build something new and put 7 on that. AM3 board, DDR3 memory, ability to Crossfire, something nice and new and future-proofed as best I can.

My wife's computer OTOH is a beast. Core i7-920, overclocked to 3.5, a HD4870 video card, 6GB of memory, and it runs the 7 Ultimate RC. We're spending the $319 to put a full retail version on it in February, because the RC expires in March. It's been worth it. Everything about 7, she loves it. And she hated Vista. So it's very good for her and eventually when I have a decent machine, it'll be good for me.

I hope SP1 comes out before then. In fact I WILL wait until a service pack is released before I build a computer to use 7.

I am such a simpleton. I spent a few minutes trying to figure out what brand of computer you were talking about? I thought....? OTOH..? is this competition to APPLE?

Then it hit me..."on the other hand." Oh brother:redface::wall:D

I too work in IT. I've been running 7 on a few test machines at work with some very good results. I'm in the process of configuring and testing deployment strategies as I think we will begin rolling out Win 7 sometime next year.

I upgraded my home workstation and laptop last week. They both seem to run quite a bit better as well.

If any of you are students and have a .edu email address you can get the 7 upgrade for $29.99. Here's the link. Windows 7 US Online Store - Student Registration

Hope that helps some of you!

I litteraly just installed 7, and other than getting it to recognize my third drive which I got it to do, it Love it. And vendors are actually supporting it unlike XP 64
