Window Tinting

I'm thinking of getting the windows tinted on the Fiat. Any advice on what type to buy and how to find a reputable place?

I had it done for the Jaguar I used to own but that business is gone.

I had mine done with a ceramic tint called huper optik. It blocks out a TON of heat and UV rays. It is pretty expensive, $400 for all my windows on my Saleen Mustang, but it is well worth it. With an all black car and all black interior I can get in it with 100 degree heat and any part of the interior will be cool to the touch. It's pretty freaking awesome. Call around and ask for ceramic tint. ;)

Do your research for sure, I found a good shop and then they put a thing up on groupon for 60% off. Got them done on my gmc envoy for $100

whenever you get it, don't forget to only use tint safe window cleaners. ammonia based cleaners will ruin the tint in short order.

If you want to reduce heat, tint the windshield. Even a light tint in the 50-70% range will block quite a bit of heat, UV not as much.

+1, my windshield is done at 70% as well with ceramic tint. Don't go too dark on the windshield or you'll be pulled over all the time. I had to redo my side windows, I got tired of getting pulled over :( . 5 times in two weeks....

I thought windshield was illegal?
It is in some states, look up your state specific laws, but a 70% tint will be impossible to see, ask your installer if they've done it before or to show you how it would look. They can hold a roll or they should have a square piece to show you tint levels, they'll hold it behind the window and let you see.

Not sure what Texas laws are but you need to look them up before you do any tinting. You also have to take into consideration the amount of factory tinting you have. It should be marked in small print on the bottom corners of the glass. I would like to tint mine but in Minnesota the laws are strict and there isn't much room left for me to tint mine with what already comes tinted from the factory.

Spot on. If I didn't tell you my windshield was tinted (70%), you would never know.

Being in TX go for a high heat rejection film like Huper Optik mentioned above. These are ceramic non-metallic films.

For the windshield llumar makes a film called air blue 80, high heat rejection but essentially invisible.
