Window Tint Question

Hi there I got my windows tinted on Monday and waited the 24 hours before rolling down the windows and they look fine just really dirty. How long until should i wait before cleaning the window 4 days should be fine right like Friday or what thanks.

Best thing is just plain distilled water on a microfiber. Leave the car out in the sun for the next few days, that helps the tint bond faster.

Yes, you should be alright to clean them now. I use Plexus on my tinted windows, and it works fine. Also, be sure not to use paper towels, newspaper, etc...use a clean microfiber cloth so they don't scratch.

so how long do u guys think i should wait until i clean the inside. Its been 2 days and its currently 14 C or 60 F. I waited 24 hours like the guy said said until rolling down windows and they look good clear with very little bubbles to no bubbles. But its just driving me crazy because when i put the windows down on the top there really dirty and want to make sure its not under the tint. Thanks

I was told to wait 4 days before rolling down the windows.

Three days here. The guy taped little cardboard squares over my window buttons to prevent accidents.

It was Llumar Platinum film if that matters.

I alternate between Plexus a few times and then Sprayway in the aerosal can just in case there's build-up.

I say, the longer you wait, the less chance of problems. It was cloudy and rainy when they did mine though if that has any effect. It's been about a month since I had it put on. I have one scratch that I've noticed and a few dusty areas/ tiny bubbles in the rear windscreen.

They say as long as you can't see it from 4 feet away you're fine.:woot:

I'd try to press out any bubbles and get the edges/dot matrix down a bit better before I went rolling them down or cleaning them.

okay i cleaned them earlier and all the marks came off except one fingerprint kind do u guys think i should take it back and get them to redo it or is there usually one mark on the tint somewhere every time.

I'd hate to be so complacent as to believe that, and my last four vehicles have had aftermarket tint (3 of them with ceramic) without blemishes.

Find a good installer with a good reputation, follow up with them after three days.

In my honest opinion, that's a mighty low bar for them to set; I'd never be satisfied with that level of workmanship. I'm surprised they even said something like that.

The PPF vendor told ebpcivicsi something like that about the expected standard of their product, and he told 'em his customers (myself included) require more like a four *inch* standard, if not better than that.

I'm not slamming your ride or anything, but the aftermarket tint on the car I bought recently is a bit worn and if/when I have it redone the shop will have to do a lot better than a four-foot rule.

A pal of mine just had the tint redone on his 911 turbo, and as best I can tell it's *perfect*, absolutely 100% flawless... and I was really looking. Heh heh, only part of the car that *is* :chuckle:

No, that's not what my tint shop said. I read that somewhere online. I think the point of it was that it's not going to be perfect...

May I ask how much you paid for your tint jobs?

Metallic film $220, Ceramic film $300.

So, not exactly overpriced in the least. Again, if accepting a low quality tint job is ok with you then by all means, I just don't like giving my money to people who aren't into perfecting their craft.

I wouldn't be happy getting my car back from a detailer still swirled and spotted, either.

Ah, OK, now I understand.

Again, I'm not slamming how your tint job turned out, just saying that some guys doing it are incredibly talented. But as with so many things, *finding* the talented guys isn't always easy. Had my buddy with the Porsche not found a great guy I wouldn't have known who to turn to in my area.

Mine has one scratch (probably caused by me), one dust spot and three really tiny bubbles. Not low quality in the slightest. Definitely not bad for a sub $200 job. They would redo it if I asked them to, I'm just not that picky.

It's an aftermarket tint job...

It's not done like at the factory. It will never be perfect.
All depends on the skill of the installer. My aftermarket job is perfect....not a bubble or speck of dirt to be found.
