Window cleaning for tinted windows

Hello all. I have spent a few days reading and searching, and have learned a lot. But here is a question I haven't found the answer on: What cleaners are safe and effective for window tint films?

Thanks.

jhe888- Welcome to Autopia!

The ones that come readily to mind are:

-Sonus

-Pro AGC-18

-Eagle1 20/20

-Stoner's Invisible Glass

-The Wax Shop Window Cleaner

Plus, I hear Plexus is OK, even though it seems a little counter-intuitive to me.

If anybody knows of a reason *not* to use any of the above, post something so I can revise my list. Also, I'll try to keep track of any other suggestions so we have a decent list of options.

Almost all glass cleaners are safe for tint except when they have Ammonia in them.

But I usually will clean them with QDer or Invisible Glass.

That's my understanding as well...but I'm not always sure which products do/don't have it

A lot of window cleaners will say on the bottle wither or not they are safe for tinted windows. I usually just use a QD or Meg's glass cleaner or distilled water with a MF.

:werd:

You have to look on them to see if they say ammonia free, that is the ingredient that will ruin your tint.

I use Windex AUTO. It was ~$4 @ walmart and it is green in color and says safe for tinted windows. remember...less is more with product.

At the risk of getting *slightly* off topic, I used Stoner's IG w/rain repellent for the first time earlier today. It seems like really great stuff--I can't think of any other product that has left the glass feeling so slick. Of course, I haven't tried it in inclement weather yet, so I can't speak to any rain sheeting abilities.

Its great in the rain, I tried it out when it first came out, I still have water beading on my windshield.

Good to know:2thumbs: Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be testing it for myself on Sunday.

But I don't have to worry about ruining my glass because I will clean the inside with a QDer anyways. I rarely every use a "glass cleaner" unless there is some kind water spots, etc on the glass.
