I'm going to try Zaino, but I'd like to ask a few questions before I place my order.

1. What do I use to remove the Blackfire from my cars?

2. I couldn't find a definite answer on the website, but how long does Zaino last? Is the durability as good as Klasse or Blackfire? (My cars are parked outside 24x7)

3. It's recommended by you guys that I use a foam applicator like the Viking foam pad from Autozone, correct?

4. To buff off, should I use my microfiber towels or switch to cotton towels?

5. When applying the Z6 between coats, is it alright to use a microfiber towel instead of a cotton towel?

Thanks again!

1. A few coats of PPCL or a mild abrasive like SMR will remove Blackfire.

2. I would say around 4-6 months. Zaino is quite durable my last coat has been on for almost 2 months and it still is super slick and water beads like crazy.

3. Yep, foam is the way to go:up

4.You can switch to cotton if you want too, but it not necessary. I have used MF to buff off Z with no problems.

5. MF is fine to QD with Z6. I do it all the time with no problems.

Good Luck!

Welcome to Zainoland.!!:D But why are you changing from BF?

Also some BF users have applied Zaino on top of the BF with good complimentary results. Why not try this method prior to removing the BF? If the results are not to your liking you can follow ShowroomLincoln's procedure which will remove both.

blkZ28Conv,

I'm switching from BF because my fine scratches reappeared after 1 wash the next week. The BF looked so awesome when it was newly applied, but like others have said, they lost their slickness and a little shine after a few washes. That right there questions BF's durability. To this day, I have not read anything negative about Zaino, so yes, I want to enter Zainoland! :D

ShowroomLincoln,

Thanks for the tips! Looks like the only thing I have to buy other than the Zaino kit is a mild abrasive like SMR or PPCL. Do you know other mild abrasives that can be bought locally other than the 2 mentioned already?

olivher,

PPCL will have to be ordered, but you can get SMR at your local NAPA store. Also a strong solution of about 75% Alcohol and 25% water might do the trick, it's works at removing Klasse but not sure with BlackFire. Spray it on and let it have a little bit of dwell time and then remove.

A definitive answer on how long Zaino lasts will be hard to find because for some reason, people with Z on their cars generally do not wait that long to apply another coat. However, I have applied Z to my sister's beater car which is parked outside all the time and is very neglected. 4 months ago, I prepped it and applied one coat of Z-5 and the car is still very glossy and slick whenever I wash it. A subsequent QDing with Z-6 rejuvenates the slickness even more.

If its been on for more than a month, I would just dawn wash and then zaino away.

Are you going the Z1 Z2 route or ZFX? Make sure you buy the wash Z7....it really works well with the system.

There are a lot of people wanting to try out blackfire, you might even be able to sell your unused portions on ABAY.

A lot of people use MF towels with zaino. Use them or 100% cotton and you will be fine. Also, if you want to fill in minor scratches, get some Z5 too. I recommend applying 2-3 coats of zaino and then you can sit back for a few months and enjoy the shine, and slickness. If you have any other concerns, give sal call, he usually gets back to you promptly.

DK,

The BF has been on for 4 weeks now. By the time I do get my Zaino kit, it will be more than 1 month, so I guess I can try a Dawn wash.

I'm going the ZFX route with Z5 and Z2. I'm also getting the required Z7 wash and Z6 QD. I'm glad I'll be able to use my MF towels that I just bought, but I guess I can't really use my MF applicator pads since I'll be buying the Viking foam pads.

Wow! I just got off the phone with Sal Zaino and we had a pretty good conversation. I do agree on his excellent tech support.

Stoners Invisible Glass, but am always looking for that perfect cleaner. Sometimes I use white vinegar.

How bout trying one of these if you haven't, then how bout trying out for starters a bottle of Eimann Fabrik Clear Vision II Glass Cleaner. It's strong enough to cut oily, road grime. The Clear Vision II cleaner is hypoallergenic, eye safe, pet safe, plant safe, child safe and everything safe. It is totally nontoxic and has no environmental impact. Give it a shot!
