will zaino Z2 bond on top of 1Z metallic polish??

This is my claim from using both. Gt1today was nice enough to send a generous sample (PO85RD) to test :bow. I have been using Menzerna FP for 2 years.

I compared these 3 products via rotary application and found that the Z C/P gave "me" superior results. Keep in mind all results were fantastic and both the Zaino C/P and PO85RD products were very easy to use.

Hm.... I really want to know what people think Zaino will "bond" to. And what the theory is behind it.

I never got why people used VM before EX-P since they wouldn't use it before any other sealant...

I'd like to know this too...What are people's thoughts on this?

Probably because Poorboy's does not state any restrictions on prep except a clean (washed) surface.

Zaino is very specific about surface prep for maximum performance of its sealants - no oils/silicones/carnuabas/synthetic wax.

Wow. Maybe I should hold off on buying PO85RD. Guess it's a personal decision.

BTW, just because a manufacturer does not give strict applicaton instructions, it does not mean that durability will not be affected. For example, FMJ seems to last longer on bare paint vs. over FTG.

Zaino says ZFX REPLACES Z-1 (choose one or the other, not both), which is a paint cleaner. From Zaino's site:

Please note: ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive replaces Z-1â„¢ Polish Lok and is superior to Z-1â„¢ Polish Lok. Z-1â„¢ Polish Lok is NOT necessary when using ZFXâ„¢ Flash Cure Accelerator Additive.

So is a paint cleaner NOT needed when using ZFX for Z2 to properly bond? That is the impression I get from Zaino's website.

The Z1 cleansing ability is very minor. The Z1 cleanses the paint after a degreasing wash (i.e Dawn or Prepsol-like products). Z1 sets the surface up for maximal bonding when the ZFX agent is not used. This is needed because of the longer curing time (crossing-linking) required for the Z sealant when not using ZFX.

Cleaning or cleansing of the surface is necessary when using either surface prep (Z1) or sealant activator (ZFX).

This is where the new Zaino paint cleanser will be a great addition to the line-up. Using this product with set the stage for either a Z1 initial application bonding agent or ZFX for the initial bonding application or the application of more than 1 coat in a day.
