iam planning on buying a da polisher in the near future. right now iam leaning towards the griots garage orbital. i have always used meguiars products and are very happy with them. my question is can i use the meg's gold class carnauba plus with the red pad that they offer with good results? also can i use meg's swirl x with the orange pad that they offer with good results? if i buy their machine, i would like to stay with their pads because their machine comes with a backing plate. thanks

flagum- Gee, I'm really late with a response to this, but yeah, the Griot's orange and red pads work fine with other products. In fact, I really like those pads.
But note that you can use any velcro-backed pad with the Griot's backing plate; I use Meguiar's, Lake Country, and other pads with mine all the time. And any "made to fit the PC" backing plate will fit the Griot's polisher, so you can use various different sizes as necessary.

Since we're on the subject of Griot's polishers, I'm wondering if their smaller, 3" model can replace a PC with 4" set up. It appears only the Griots pads ( size at least) can go with it but if it can do a better job that the PC in spot jobs, maybe it's worthwhile. :nixweiss:
