Will Merzerna power gloss remove the swirls on my 88 Mustang by hand?

The paint is still in great shape and very shiny but you can see the scratches and swirls more now since I used the Klasse AIO and Klasse Sealant. :headbang

Yes, it will. PG is very abrasive. You may need to go to a lighter polish after PG such as FP or SSR1, then AIO/SG.

I have already tried 3M's compound remover with no successs. I was also told that Merzerna Intense polish would be the first one to use if that didn't work then use the power gloss...I don't have a machine so this will be by hand application. Is Merzerna the most abrasive of all polishes? :write

Not the most abrasive, but they are designed for use with rotaries. In other words, you'll never generate enough heat to break down the abrasives by hand, and you'll probably just swirl it up even more. Just my opinion...

If by hand is your only option, check out the Poorboy's polishes (SSR2.5 would be about equal to IP IMO), or Meguiar's ScratchX which is designed to be used specifically by hand.

Why not SSR3? :mohawk

Not sure how SSR3 is by hand. You always want to take the least abrasive approach possible...

Honestly, I'd try Meguiar's ScratchX since it's made to be used by hand, meaning the abrasives break down fast and won't mar the paint.

SSR3 and PG are a bit extreme IMO for paint that's in great shape and shiny with the exception of a few swirls.

I have used Menzerna IP & FPII with a PC but I have not used Power Gloss.

I have read a rotary is recommended for Power Gloss so I doubt you'd get satisfying results using PG by hand if using it with a PC is not recommended but ..... give it a try but make sure you need a product this aggresive.

Sounds like the surface is not in really bad shape & PG might be overkill.

I see your point and it makes sense as you can only see these swirls, blemishes, and scratches up close to the car. Meguires Scratch X is easier to get too. I already have a sample pack of 6 oz. of Menzerna Intense and can't remember the name of the Menzerna polish that goes with it but that is another 6 oz. bottle. Then I have 32 ounces of Menzerna Power Gloss coming. WHOOPS! :brick :headbang

^I think Final Polish is the other one you're talking about :bigups
Probably I got the introduction package that has 2 6 oz. bottles of Menzerna Polishes. and a giant Power Gloss 32 oz. on the way. I wish I knew this before I ordered... :hurl

Try putting it up for sale or trade in the Detail City Swap Meet Forum. If you can't make use of it, maybe someone with a rotary can.

Thanks for the offer I may end up taking it up with you.
I have on order 1 6oz. Intense and 1 6oz. final J(the intoduction package)then I have the large 32 oz. Power gloss. We will see I haven't even received the products yet These products are for machine polishing and not hand polishing so I would be better off with the Poor Boys SSR 2.5 or SSR 3 or Meguires Scratch X. :headbang

Where did you get the introductory package from? That is a great way to try something.

In the testing I have done with this product I found exactly what Matt says. Even with a PC on speed 5 and wool pad the product is only just starting to do its job, grab a rotary and it works beautifully.

Cheers
Dave.
