Will ColorX Remove Wax?

Will Megs ColorX clean and remove all wax, whether layered or not, from the paint surface?

If so, is it the best OTC option for completing this task or are there other OTC choices that are less abrasive but still clean and remove wax?

By the way, I am using Collinite as a wax so I'm not sure how easily it removes from the surface.

AFAIK, ColorX will do, it's more of a chemical cleaner rather than abrasive cleaner. If it happens to have some abrasives, it could be very very mild.

It may not be the best product for this task, but worth a try.

You may rather consider AIO or machine polish using #80.

Will one application by hand do the job of removing all wax or will it take more than one application?

Speaking of other OTC cleaners and wax removers, I looked at Collinite 840 prewax but it specifically says do not use on clear coat. That's a bummer. :down

Does Mothers make a ColorX equivalent or should I just stick with Meguiar's because it's better?

Mothers step1 Pre Wax Cleaner should work well also. Not sure how it compares to Color X, however, it is a pure cleaner whereas Color X leaves some protection.

You can go straight to your waxing step after both ColorX and the DC cleaner. Both will fully prepare the surface for the wax. No additional steps are needed between either cleaner product and your wax (unless you want to throw a glaze and/or sealant into your LSP process).

Since I am using Collinite, which would be the better choice under it, ColorX or Deep Crystal Cleaner?

ColorX will be stronger cleaner and leave some polymer protection, so I would say ColorX would be a better choice.
