Will be changing transmission fluid soon.

You don't need to change it before 50K there are lots of good syn. to put in it there's nothing wrong with dino neither. What exact car do you have? Find a forum for it and see what guys are running.

Matt
Are you on any car forums? There is some syn. that does increase holding power a good bit over a dino.

I'm dumping my motorcraft AFT and going Amsoil ATF. Synthetic are leaps and bounds ahead of dino oil imho.

I wouldn't say "leaps and bounds” if you don't have good filtration, you could be doing more damage by running your oil longer because there is more crud in it.

Then it's ahead by quite a bit. Synthetic have more detergents in it so it does clean things up a bit which is a good thing (assuming the drivetrain has been properly taken care of).

Uhh and the guys here aren't?? A scratch ruins there day and rain is worse then a stab wound lol.

Yep...I'm on quite a few F-Body forums. Haven't heard of it increasing holding power though....

i haven't heard of anybody mentioning flushes . If you do a basic drain and fill you 're not getting the oil in the converter . some converters hold more than a couple quarts. So on a refill you still have all that original oil to ruin your new oil.

Go to your local shop and get a flush . Over here they use a machine to flush
with a cleaning solution ( solvent ) and then refill with all fresh oil.

A flush can run you about 189.95 .

WOW that's a lot...a tranny flush should be NO MORE than 80-90 MAX.

A tranny flush then Mobil synthetic cost 180 dollars.
A tranny flush then regular dexronIII cost 120 dollars.

working at a g.m. dealer for almost twelve years i have heard many excuses to use only g.m. recomened fluids. it will not void any warrenty if you don't as long as you can prove it was done according to their maintenacne recommendations. if you feel the synthetic is too thin, go with a semi-synthetic. also the flush is the way to go. if it seems expensive, doing it only every 50,000 miles, it doesn't average out to much.
