Will 3000 grit marks be removed with PC+5.25"pad+OHC?

I'm looking to do some wetsanding on our car. However, I only have a PC, and I'm reading many conflicting statements as to whether it's possible to remove the sanding marks.

I'm looking to get some 5.25 CCS pads (yellow and orange) from Danase, and use it with OHC. Is it possible to remove the wetsanding using this setup? Or will it be completely useless?

If it's possible, approximately how long would it take to polish out (remove the sanding marks, not polish to perfection) a 1ftx1ft section?

The car is a 1993 Acura.

For me it took a little longer than normal compounding But then again, I used 2000Grit which i regret.

People always doggin' the PC for not being able to remove sanding marks. I think 3000grit and higher with a nice strong polish/compound it's easily possible. Yeah it may take longer than possibly a UDM and rotary. But hell if it works, it works. :chuckle:

Good Luck Mike!

3000 Unigrit sanding marks can be removed with a PC, a light cut pad and something along with the lines of Optimum compound, Mezerna IP or Megs 83. You don't have to be quite as aggressive as you might think when you use 3000 grit paper. :)

probably but you have to work it forever! make sure you check it from different angles and lighting to see if its completely removed. also, i would try another compound.. ohc isnt that strong although its suppose to be the aggressive one.

I'm not familiar with Optimum products but from what I have learned about those products and the tools you have available, it should not be problem. You certainly should not have any issues.

Just make certain whenever you use wetsanding paper, use a product that is unigrit.
