I know one girl (okay, woman) that really appreciates a well detailed car, in fact she worked for me for a few months until she went back and got her degree and married her boyfriend. That marriage went bad quick but she and he did have a child and since my two boys are 15 and 17, I don't really want to get involved with someone with such a young kid (she also has two older kids about 10-12 from a previous marriage) plus her track record isn't too good. Cute girl though and a good detailer.
 
That's why my wif and I have separate finances. We share the household bills 50/50 and spend our disposable income on our own preferences. She likes to spend it on her full grown bum of a worhtless son. And I would rather spend it on improving our house or lately my new cruiser. What ever, we don't need each others permission and although some of our friends don't understand it works out real well for our situation. We tried it the other way and nearly got a divorce 6 years ago.
 
My wife handles all of the finances but we have an understanding and complete trust about the importances of savings / investments and not wasting. It helps when both are on the same page about quality of life and maintaining such even after retirement. We both have some personal money for hobby expenses but the vocational incomes are pooled :xyxthumbs
