Why is Z6 leaving a smeared residue on my car?

Hey gang, if anyone can offer any insight on this, I'd be truly appreciative:) OK, last Saturday night at a Club gathering, I was using Z6 to go over my car. The sun wasn't out, FWIW, and it was around 6pm. Today, in the bright sun shine, I see what looks like a smeared residue everywhere I used the Z6. Needless to say, I was very upset:( I'm using Koala towels that are washed by themselves in liquid detergent, and dried without dryer sheets. What am I doing wrong? Thanks again for any advice!

How much Z6 were you using? (a little goes a long way)

This may sound weird, but is there Zaino Z2/Z3/Z5 on the finish?

Z6 smeared on my shoe (Souveran) when I tried to give them a QD.

EDIT: Z7 wash and Z6 your car again. This may solve the problem.

And was the car warm/hot when you Z6'd?

Well, before you asked, I was fairly sure ;) that I was using a small amount. I have the sprayer set on as fine a mist as possible. I spray it on the towel first, then wipe the car. After I wipe the Z6 on the paint, I flip the towel over and use a dry side to wipe it again. And yep, I have a coat each of Z1/Z5/Z2 on there, and the Z2 is less than 3 weeks old.

I'll do that, maybe tonight after the sun goes down. The car was fairly warm. But I'll add that I've seen it do this before when the car was totally cool, in the garage. Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a shot.

I have seen this problem from time to time when a car is warm or hot to the touch and in direct sun. I would agree, just redo it when it's nice and shady and cooler and you should be O.K.:up

The only time that I run into this smearing problem with Z6 is when I am over-zealous with the amount used. Even as a experienced user of Zaino sometime sh*t happens. Normally a good re-wipe with a clean towel will rectify and a Z7 wash will definitely remedy.

The funny thing about your story is that the same thing happen to me last Saturday!? Cosmic alignment? Zaino Gods mad at us? :nixweiss

Hehe...good one. Thinking about it, along with what Jason said above, I more than likely used too much. I didn't get to wash it last night due to a small rain shower, but will most likely get to wash it tonight. Thanks again!

I used to have a heckuva time applying "too little" Z6, so I developed this little method. Some have tried it and like it, while others report that it "sucks" (thanks, Ali, always my supporter). ;)

1) Get a nice, soft Microfiber towel (your best one)

2) Lay it flat on a clean surface (kitchen counter, etc)

3) Slightly dampen 1 side of the MF - don't soak it, and don't leave it overly dry. For me, it takes about 5-6 full shots (very fine mist) to achieve the optimal dampness. Experiment a little to find the threshold for your MF's, techniques and vehicle.

4) Wipe down the car, top to bottom, using a fairly vigorous technique. This will alleviate the need to follow-up with a final wipe.

If any streaking occurs, re-mist the MF and go over the area again. I can do our Tahoe with this technique (Dark Blue), using one "dampening" of the MF. Quoting the old Krylon spray paint commercials: "No runs, no drips, no errors."

Hope this helps, and as I said, your results may vary.
