Why is 3M Imperial Hand Glaze so hard to work with?

I practiced on my dad's 14 year old Acura Legend tonight for the first time with my new PC...I did a pass with an orange pad and Menzerna IP, then a pass with a white pad and Menzerna FPII. It looked great but since I was testing stuff out, I tried the 3M IHG on a black pad just to see what it would do. I had some experience applying by hand and it didn't end well (tricky to remove). So I apply it and finally remove it all and I see micro-marring and haze...so why is IHG so hard to work with? Are you not supposed to apply by machine? But even still, when you do it by hand, do you just not let it dry?

Thanks

DO NOT let this stuff dry !

Work one small section at a time (1x1 - 2x2). If using a machine ,

make one thorough pass to spread evenly or two quick passes

and wipe off immediately.

By hand ,I've found it's OK to let it sit for about 1 minute before removal.

It's tricky because if you let it sit too long ,it's like trying to remove glue. Not long

enough and you just smear it everywhere.

I don't use IHG much anymore for these reasons...too tempermental.

There are far more forgiving and versatile products out there for glazing purposes.

I was told years ago by an online retailer (who also sold IHG) not to use it with a PC. Was designed to be used by hand. Like gusbubba says it dries out quickly and the PC and pad probably inficted the marring.

Which towels did you use to remove the IHG?

If you want to use a glaze with PC try Mother's Sealer & Glaze. Much easier to use/remove.
