Why I never purchased Zaino

Being in business there has to be more to it.Does SAL want to leave his company the size it is now? Most business people want there company to grow and grow.Maybe SAL doesnt want to get involved with credit cards due to a bad experience with fraud.

Well, it's certainly up to the company how they want to run their business. I know that one of the main reasons I bought Meguiar's stuff is that I found their distributors by doing a search on the Meguiar's website.

I agree with both sides on this one. I can understand why Sal might not want to grow his business. I know several very successful people who have deliberately foregone the opportunity to make more money because doing so would have lead to an increase in stress and headache. For example, someone I know earned over $1 million last year. He'll probably earn about the same amount this year. He is very talented, and could easily triple that number. But why? He already has enough money. His life is great. Why would he want to get stressed out just to earn more money when he's already rich? This happens all the time. If Sal doesn't want the headache of running a big company, I can understand (hopefully someday I'll be able to relate!).

That being said, I don't think that credit cards, a web site, and an 800 number represent a major headache. Every mom and pop store takes credit cards these days. It's just not a big deal. And if it makes life easier for your customer, why not just give them what they want?

SAL IN 2004!!! :D :D

Like DUDE, I agree with both sides on this one.

I always thought what separate us Autopians from others is we will take the extra miles when it comes to detailing, and think about it, the products that we use is the foundation (how are you going to detail without the supplies?). It takes MUCH less time to write a check than to wash a car. Majoriy of us have no problem spending couple hours each WEEK washing our cars yet we have problems writing checks couple times each YEAR ?

On the other hand, I think Bret nailed it when he said "I like the product but am not in love with it". There ARE other products out there you can use without the hassle of writing checks. People in love with Zaino will go out of their way to purchase it and writing check would be the last thing they worry about. I mean take me for example, I like Klasse and have no problem ordering it again from CMA when I run out my bottles, but it's NOT a "must have". If I must write check to order Klasse then NO THANKS I will use other products that I know would offer comparable results, if not better.

I just picked up a bunch of Z from Robin here in LA and she was very kind, and only 3 minutes from my work.

I wonder if Zaino can be compared to In-N-Out. In-N-Out is only in California and Las Vegas, with maybe 1 or 2 in Arizona. I'm sure if In-N-Out were elsewhere they would do just fine but the fact is, In-N-Out keeps it smaller on purpose. Makes it special. Man, I'm hungry!

I don't have any problem with the way Zaino runs the business, but that's just me.

Back to the original problem, there is a very good Z distributor here in Tennessee. He is in Union City or there about and can get you product in 1 or 2 days via credit card. And, like others have suggested, there are Z distributors in nearly every major state, and some distributors serve several surrounding states, so there's really not a problem that I can see as most all of them take CC. If you want the TN Z dist., send me a PM or email, and I can provide his contact info for you anytime...

Shiny Lil Detlr:

It's a joke. I like Zaino, so I am making the humorous suggesting that Sal should run for President of the United States in the 2004 election. This happens a lot with public figures. When Gen. Schwartzkopf won the war in Iraq, for example, many people began floating the idea of "Schwartzkopf for President," or "[NYC Mayor] Giuliani (sp?) for President." When I first used Zaino, I was impressed, so I thought I'd nominate Sal for President. He's a public figure as far as Autopians are concerned, so I thought that "Sal in 2004!" would make a clever inside joke.

I've thought about why Zaino doesn't take CCs. Coming from someone who has close ties with the IRS, my wife is an agent, I'm wondering how many of those checks are cashed and not reported as income. I mean the checks are made out to Zaino, no big deal to take them to the bank and cash them for cash. You deposit enough checks to cover, barely, the company expenses and rest is tax-free. This is just a thought, not to flame Sal or anything, but I wonder.

How often have you paid cash at the Chinese buffet and the cashier didn't ring up the sale on the cash register?

More likely, Sal doesn't take credit cards because of the 1 - 2% fee he would be paying on each transaction, and the added hassles of dealing with CC fraud.

Never.

fraud YES 1-2% HAS NO BEARING WHATSOEVER!................think about the additional business you pick up also SAL takes checks ,How many of thoese do you think he has been stuck with!

Maybe he just enjoys watching you guys speculate as to what his real motivations are. I know that I would be pretty amused at some of these posts if I were in Sal’s position. I have no idea what his reasons are, but he and his products are getting more air-time because of all this talk (more like gripe) about how you can’t pay by CC if you buy directly from him. I have no problem whatsoever sending him a check and deciding not to use Zaino (when you initially had your heart set on trying it out) simply because you have to spend a few more minutes to fill out an order form or find a distributor who takes CC’s is pretty sad….IMO.

Actually, I have had In-N-Out burgers here in Texas...but only because some guy copied them exactly-even had the burgers analyzed by a chemist so he could replicate them perfectly. He even had people go to work for In-N-Out so they could photograph the store layouts, learn who their suppliers were, etc. He then opened a burger place called Lightning Burger at Six Flags Mall in Arlington.

He finally got caught, had to sell the restaurant to the mall (who now call it Burger Place) and they had to make a few minor changes to the ingedients they were using.

Yeah, a little off subject, but still an interesting story.

Let me see if I've got this straight, there is a burger joint in a mall in Texas where you can buy Zaino with a credit card? And Sal is the burger flipper who intends on running for President in 2004?

Credit cards are nice and preferred, as are good products and good service. At least Sal has those last two with my business.

I sent my check to Sal and received my order in about ten days..and this was over Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, my stupid apartment complex office signed for it and now they cannot find the package  ! I called Sal and he told me to take a copy of my order form and "shove it up the manager's a$$." Anyway, I hope I can track it down or get the money from the apartment complex. In the meantime I ordered from indycamaro.com's Gloss Boss. The lady was real nice and hopefully I will be doing my first zaino job this weekend.

Gatorfan, that sucks big time. I wonder if there is another Z user in your complex... :D

To prevent any chance of any problems whatsoever in the delivery of any newly ordered precious detailing items, I always have everything shipped to the office.
