Why I like detailing

I love the fact that everyone comments on my car. But I was happy when I found this as everyone said I was obsessed about cleaning it.

I don't know if it's just me, but i had the flu and only two days over it, I was out today in cold five degree weather cleaning the dirt off the body and wheels. I just hate a dirty car!!

I guess there is some stress relief in detailing. Mostly I just do it because I NEED to have a clean car. In Toledo, Ohio this isn't easy. Rain every few days in the spring, summer and fall. Snow darn near every time I pull the car out of the garage in the winter (I live on the lake and get lots of lake effect snow).

I don't really drive my clean cars anywhere except to the office and back home. Because I park far away from everyone else, no ever sees my car or comments on how good it looks. Therefore no satisfaction is gained from other making positive comments.

Probably the greatest feeling is after toiling away on a Saturday or Sunday and just sitting back with a room temperature homebrew (or 2 or 3), and admiring the results of the hard work. The homebrews even taste better than normal when viewing an immaculately detailed M3 and 330ci sport coupe.

I just got in the mood again. Off to clean the Bimmers again with anticipation of a fresh brewed barleywine. It just doesn't get any better than this.

With my wedding in a week and my new build house being completed in less than 4 weeks I.

Now THAT'S stressful...Wonderful, but stressful.

Congrats on the upcoming wedding and new house Audi.

Like everyone else I have a stressful job and also suffer from the hyperness. Can't sit still. Unless I can wrap myself up in something to deflect that stress for awhile, I swear I'd lose it.

My own vehicle isn't enough to keep me occupied anymore and am thinking about doing some detailing on the side. On average (I know there's tons of variables) what do you non-professional detailers charge. Just some guidelines.

Well, I just did my father-in-laws pick up truck just because I wanted to. I only charged him $20 even though I spent nearly 9 hours detailing it. Basically I did it for free, just charging him for the cost of materials.

Great practice, and it made the in-laws happy!

:)

Detailing, along with a treadmill has kept my diabetes in control. My doc said exercise & diet will help me avoid insulin injections for quite a while.

So, good health, clean vehicles, and a positive outlook..can't ask for anything more :)

Too funny. We had our treadmill delivered this morning! Now the fun begins....putting it together. :(

Too bad we don't get any aerobic activity from detailing. My back is killing me from detailing my in-laws truck yesterday and today. :doh

I love seeing my car look a lot better than those in the showroom and most of the cars on the road. That when i feel proud and satisfied.
